Abner removed to Nova Scotia, where, as a grantee, he bought the Wood's Grant which his large family occupied. For a time he sailed in a privateer from Liverpool, NS. Some of his family remained in NS, and raised their families there, but Abner returned to Harwich where he died, intestate. According to Josiah Paine "Elizabeth was supported by the town of Harwich many years before and after 1800". Source - The Nickerson Family Association.
