Abner Curtis "Curt" Jordan, 85, of Oak Ridge, died Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, at Methodist Medical Center of Oak Ridge.

Born in Eclectic, Ala. March 7, 1919, he was the son of Abner Emmitt and Reathie Howard Jordan.

He moved to Oak Ridge in 1943 where he worked with the construction of the K-25 plant. After the construction of the plant, he was hired by Union Carbide as a supervisor in the production division, where he worked until his retirement in 1981.

Mr. Jordan was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Tennessee Charolais Association, and the American International Charolais Association. He enjoyed quail hunting, gardening, training his English Setters, and raising pure bred Charolais cattle, his family said.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Austin Jordan and Morris Jordan; and twin granddaughters, Lisa and Laura Davis.

He is survived by his wife, Charlotte Jordan; his son, Michael C. Jordan and wife, Lorene, of Oak Ridge; his two daughters, Scarlett Collins and husband, Jerry, of Ashland City, and Cheryl Davis and husband, Ronald, of Charleston; his brother, A. Kyle Jordan and wife, Alice, of Seattle, Wash.; his two sisters, Gwen McGriff and husband, Wayne, and Emma Lou Bishop and husband, Borum, all of Montgomery, Ala.; his five grandchildren, Kimberly Bentley of Benton, Kyle Rogers, of Atlanta, Ga., Curt Davis of Hutchinson, Kan., Michael Davis and Michelle Gamble, both of Knoxville; and his four great-grandchildren, Brianna Bentley, Abigail Bentley, Riley Davis and Seth Gamble; as well as many extended family members and friends.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, in the chapel of Martin Oak Ridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Bob Cantrell and the Rev. Amanda Bell officiating.

The graveside service will follow at Oak Ridge Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 15, at the funeral home.

The family requests that any memorials be in the form of donations to the National Kidney Foundation of East Tennessee, 4450 Walker Blvd., Suite 2, Knoxville, TN 37917-1523.
