About Abigall Holderness

Biography

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Shelton-350

We will begin then with PETER CHELTON of Middlesex Co. Va. in tracing the lineage of DAVID of Caswell PETER CHELTON b. 1655-1660; d. Oct. 1, 1718; m. (Probably for 2nd time) Mar. 2,1684 SUSAN JAX0N; m. (3) ABIGAIL."

Marriages:

Susan Jaxon, 2 Mar 1684/5[3][4]
Abigail. Later married Robert Holderness.

The conclusion that Peter had an earlier unrecorded marriage[1] may have been based on William being born several years before his marriage to Susan Jaxon. That Susan is William's mother[5] and that Peter Shelton was required to post a bastardy bond in Jan 1682/3 for the child he had sired with Susan, servant to Maj. General Robert Smith, would seem to clarify that.[6] As an indentured servant, she was unable to marry until the completion of her contract.

Susanna died before 1691, the year Henry Chilton was born, the first child of Peter and Abigail Chilton.[4]

Children of Susanna and Peter Chilton:

  1. William Shelton
  2. Peter Shelton

Children of Abigail and Peter Chilton:

  1. Henry Shelton
  2. Thomas Shelton
  3. Zebulon Shelton
