About Abigail Wells
Abigail Allis was the daughter of Capt. John Allis. She was taken hostage by Indians in 1677, when she was 6 years old. She lived in Hatfield, Massachusetts Colony, New England.
Abigail married Ephraim Wells in 1696, moved to Colchester, Connecticut, and had 10 children. She died in 1731, at age 59.
She was the mother of Abigail Wells, who married William Mariner.
That afternoon of Sept. 19th was a time of terrible excitement and overwhelming sorrow to the remaining inhabitants of the town . . . . Seventeen captives were taken, and their names are given as follows : … Abigail, six, daughter of Capt. John Allis ; and Abigail Bartholemew formerly of Deerfield.
