About 1st wife of Richard Jordan
Richard Jordan, Sr. (d 1687) married Alice Jordan Bef. 30 Mar 1679 in VA. She died Bef. 01 Mar 1685/86 in Isle of Wight Co, VA.
Therefore, Alice was probably not the mother of Richard Jordan, Jr., born about 1635, died before 3 October 1699 in Southwark Parish, Surry County, and he had an earlier wife we don’t know about.
There’s a later man, John Jordan, Sr., (1650 - bef 1687) married Jane Brown, also seen as son of Richard Jordan, Sr.
Origins
Alice Brown is seen as the parents of Thomas Brown and Rosanna Brown but the dates and locations are not working very well, so she’s been detached.
atDna - 8 segment pile up - -27,073,268 - 30,973,957 at 6.7cM for claimants of both groups. We had to rule out various lines attributing to endogamy, in our group of independent Brown claiming cousins as this is 8 and 9 generations back. ( For example, one of the Bryant / Elkins double+ cousin pile up on chrome 13 starting at 92m). The Brown /Browns of various Hap Groups had to be considered.
Notes
Update June 2014, paraphrasing from Geni member Thomas Spivey:
R. W. Baird (of the site Bob's Filing Cabinet) has obtained courthouse documents that provide proof that the Richard Jordan, who married Elizabeth Reynolds, was the son of Richard Jordan, who married Alice Brown; it is not sure that Alice was his mother. He has posted info on Genforum.com.
