Hey, New Grandma! Get off the computer and go play with the new baby! Go spoil him rotten while you're there.

Hi Private User

These are all private profiles. Unfortunately curators cannot assist with that (except in the *very* historical tree - 1800s or so on back).

The message on the merge window is:

This private profile has not yet been approved in this merge. You may view this profile to contact the manager or perform other actions.

Do try contacting the other manager. \

Thanks, Erica. I had a feeling that was the case. I'll remove my request.
Best,
Eric

I was able to merge David de Abraham Henriquez Juliao y Bueno Vivas as both sides of the merge were already "public."

Thanks, Erica!

Erica (or another curator) - there are four more public profile merges pending around David de Abraham Henriquez Juliao y Bueno Vivas - his parents, wife and child - if someone could complete those.

Thanks.

David I did some but some are private and in the 1800s

Thanks Angus. Martin also merged some there too. Thank you both.

Yes the private profiles are not so easily merged. There are enough incomplete PUBLIC profile merges around to keep us busy at the moment. I would like to get those in better shape in the Sepharad tree - we have already come a LONG way.

Another area is around David De Moses Mendoza

I am currently trying to engage with a few profile managers in that area, explaining to them the benefits of collaboration etc. Not always easy.

Thanks Angus for your further merges.

You have revealed a problem. Not something you have done wrong at all. It's looks like there were some bad merges last year on Judith David Martinez

This person has three sets of parents. The "resolve conflicting data" I think clearly shows what the three separate profiles merged should be like. I think what needs to be done is to "pick" one of the three that this Judith should be, and then reconstruct the other two based on the conflicting data info.

I think I need a curator to do this. I can provide more info in private message if the above is not clear.

Is it possible to document the "about me" with citations or source data? That really is my "first step" when dealing with "smooshed together" profiles; get it in writing in the overview, and if possible, add source documents (obviously try to do that first with "key" historical profiles if a family member isn't adding).

Is that something you and the other profile managers can do before the "curator" fix?

Erica - Thank you. I am working with Angus on the curator fix.

I have multiple outstanding collaboration requests in this area. As I said above: I am currently trying to engage with a few profile managers in that area, explaining to them the benefits of collaboration etc. Not always easy.

There is one profile in the thick of this with seven managers, with all of whom I have requested collaboration.

I established the project http://www.geni.com/projects/Sephardic-Families-Who-Settled-in-Euro... exactly for this purpose:- to document sources. We have come a long way. There is a lot further to go. That area in particular is devoid of sources and over views ...

There seems to be a problem here....

The father William Chase I is the same as the son, William Chase Jr. b. 1621 d. 1684. Can someone help me fix this?

Erica Howton This is regarding Elizabeth Crawford

John Smith and Hulda Hussey Smith are not her parents. Elizabeth Smith was born in Virginia. Hulda Hussey and her husband lived New Hampshire where all their children were born.

Here are some links to the Crawford family:

http://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000011438891201

http://www.tusculum.sbc.edu/Household-Crawford.shtml

Could you please remove John Smith and Huldah Hussey as her parents? There is nothing that I can find that supports Elizabeth Smith being their daughter (I don't even find them having a daughter named Elizabeth at all).

Thanks!

why would a curator feel the need to 'take over' profiles that I added? They haven't been made master profiles, or anything important. I'm a little ticked off at this move, as I have personally added each of my profiles by hand, and did not use a gedcom. I would be quite anxious to hear of any explanation, I am VERY active on here, and started my tree in March of 2007, I have no problem adding someone as a manager, but why would someone take my profiles from me?

Barbara, can you share a link and if it was me, let me know privately. I know you and I email back and forth sometimes.

K - Barbara is referring to me. The only way that I could have or would have become a manager is if it was abandoned. I almost never ask to be added as a manager. The only time I recall doing so was my grandfather's profile. I don't have any particular interest in managing the profiles. I would have only picked them up to eliminate the blocks unmanaged profiles cause. If Barbara would like to send the links, I will happily remove myself as manager. As part of the big tree, she will continue to run into these issues on profiles that are merged. But I'm quite sure that as a 'VERY active" member she is aware of this. I do not make a habit of "taking" peoples profiles in any way!

Welcome to the club. It was explained to me by Mr. Brox when I lost over 1,400 profiles that I had added just like you by hand, did the research, added images, etc., that other people may have added that profile earlier or were closer relatives. Then again I have a lot of famous relatives with my ancestors attached. It is very upsetting. I had added added 3,894 profiles before I got slammed. I am now down to 2,408 profiles added and still sliding. What I do not understand at all is when the person who added the Profile is not the manager and vice a versa.

Looking at the profile again. Barbara was still listed as a manager although she was not listed first. Really?! Are we 5? Is it really that important to be first? When you join the big tree you are signing up to share and play nice with others. She can have the profiles - send the links and I will remove myself

Are you speaking about historical profiles?

If the profile you created was merged into another, you would co manage the profile

Can you post a link to a profile that you created and no longer co-manage

WHEN THIS HAPPENS, IT SORT OF TAKES THE WIND OUT OF YOU SALES. ESPECIALLY WHEN YOU PUT IN ALMOST THREE YEARS OF HAD WORK. I HAVE NOT ONLY BEEN BUMPED, BUT HAD TO HAVE A CURATOR PUT ME BACK IN THE MANAGER LIST.

AS I STATED, I HAD A CURATOR RE-ESTATE ME WHEN I DISCOVERED THIS.

Private User

Done.

Many thanks for the catch.

Erica Howton thank you very much! :)

Yes we understand... it is too late for you and me but Geni is working on an introductory letter to send to new users explaining the concept of the Big Tree , (One profile per one person).

Also one other thing they are trying to come up with is a way to remove 'Managers' from historical profiles which seems to be a major point of conflict presently

Well if you want a challenge I have one nobody seems to able to fix.

• Ruth Bass (Alden) is my Great aunt. Her father John Alden is my 9th GGF. Geni has her as,
Ruth Bass (Alden) is your 9th great aunt. Her sister Elisabeth Pabodie is my 8th GGM

Ruth Bass

the mess follows suite to deacon John Adams. One convoluted mess.

here is the mess

John "Deacon" Adams, Sr. is your 9th great uncle's nephew's wife's nephew.
You
→ Raymond H. Ashworth, Sr.
your father → Susie Gertrude Ashworth (Smith)
his mother → Nathaniel E. Smith
her father → Hannah Ellen Smith (Baylies)
his mother → Hannah Baylies (Searle)
her mother → Comfort Searle
her father → Nathaniel Searle Jr.
his father → Sarah Searle (Rogers)
his mother → Elizabeth Rogers (Pabodie, 1647-1679)
her mother → Elisabeth Pabodie (Alden)
her mother → Ruth Bass (Alden)
her sister → John Bass, I
her husband → Thomas Bass
his brother → Samuel Bass, II
his son → Mary Bass (Adams)
his wife → Joseph Adams Jr
her brother → John "Deacon" Adams, Sr.
his son
John Adams

now this is from John Adams Profile with my indication on the side
which would be correct

→ Raymond H. Ashworth, Sr.
your father → Susie Gertrude Ashworth (Smith)
his mother → Nathaniel E. Smith
her father → Hannah Ellen Smith (Baylies)
his mother → Hannah Baylies (Searle)
her mother → Comfort Searle
her father → Nathaniel Searle Jr.
his father → Sarah Searle (Rogers)
his mother → Elizabeth Rogers (Pabodie, 1647-1679)
her mother → Elisabeth Pabodie (Alden) My 8th GGM
her mother → Ruth Bass (Alden) My 8th Great aunt
her sister → Hannah Adams (Bass) 1st Cousin 9x removed
her daughter → John "Deacon" Adams, Sr. 1st cousin 10x removed
her son → John Adams, 2nd President of the USA, Signer of the Declaration of Independence 1st cousin 11 x removed

at the end of the day John Adams should be my 1st cousin 11x removed

Anything you can do to correct this mess please do so.
If it is a Geni glitch, please leave it alone. It will make matters worse.

Thank you
Walter

As far as being a manager on a historical ancestor I rather like it. As long as the branch does fall off the tree.

SEE STOLEN PROFILE AND LOOK MR " AL CAPONNNE"dAVID pRINS MANAGED NEAR 500.000

Beets me. Maybe there is some sort of competition for most profiles added going on.
