Hi Curators!
I started a merge with some relatives but they changed their minds and asked me to unmerge.
Would be grateful if you can assist me to reverse these merges. I have looked for a way to get it undone but havent found it.
The top of the line has this profile http://www.geni.com/people/J%C3%B6ns-Nilsson/6000000003758321333 and goes on with his son at profile http://www.geni.com/people/Nils-J%C3%B6nsson/6000000012699080585?th.... The unmerge concernes the son´s line in the tree.
I hope you can help me with this. If you need more information, please contact me.
Warm Regards,
Camilla Schrewelius Boberg

Hi,
Thanks again for the information.
I still have a question about navigation though.
When I expand navigate in the bottom of the screen, I only see a sub-tree. Is there a way to choose sub-trees?
I found another way to navigate.Using the recent changes icon on the bottom right (and sometimes using show all revisions)
Job...when you get to someone you want to see more tree for, either click their green tree above their box (it will have a number in it) to open their tree, or, on the profile pop up, click "tree". You can also go the the persons profile then choose tree from there.
In preferences, you can change the number of ancestors and descendants to limit/increase what you are seeing, and you can choose to see direct line only or full family.
You will also notice as you open new trees FROM THE TREE that you get a tab at the top of the tree for those other trees, so you can click on that to go back to a previous tree to pull someone else up.
Anita,
Thanks, I knew that, my question was not clear (it was a bit late in the night here).
My problem is locating a (sub-)tree when it is not show on the current tree and not in the tree history on the top of the screen.
I can sometimes use the index on family name (http://www.geni.com/search/surname_index), but that has the problem with recent data mentioned before.
I hoped that there was some other way to find it, that would be easier then to scroll through the history of recent additions.
Ah...Once you close a tree in Geni, there isn't a reference to it.
I don't think there is a way..other than to use your explorer options to open a separate tab when you open a new tree, and to use your back button/history list.
I use multiple tabs if I am doing something that I need to reference the tree again for. Multiple windows might help...multiple monitors definitely makes it much easier.

You cannot un-merge profiles.
It looks to me as if there are two profiles for Nils Jönsson so they have not in fact been merged. As both profiles are private I cannot see their details. One married to M Hansdotter (managed by Bertil Ingvar Wendt) and the other married to "not named" managed by yourself. The manager of the profile which wants to be separated from this tree ( I am assuming Bertil Ingvar Wendt) - can remove the parent relationship of that profile from the family using the remove relationship option on the relationship menu. They need to make sure that that profile is the highlighted profile on the tree first..
When that is done the family of the separated profile would need to be rebuilt by re-entering the profiles of his family. They would need to go and remove themselves as manager on any profiles that have been merged and remove any collaboration with any other people. As soon as collaboration is in place it is inevitable that merges will take place.
Keeping a tree separate on Geni is difficult - and is not what Geni is all about. The communal aspect is what makes it so special. Those who wish to keep a separate tree may need to think that Geni might not be the place for them to have their tree.
Let us know you need further help - but bear in mind that we cannot work with private profiles.
Hello,
I need assistance. Someone merged a tree to mine and messed it up big time. The URL is
http://www.geni.com/family-tree#6000000012529550202
There is a similarity in the surname. There are 3 main problems:
1. someone stole the ownership of my mother (Milka Nakar) from me. It is listed as managed by Yishai Steckler. I contacted him by email and phone and he knows nothing about this error.
2. They erroneously added a husband to my mother called Eli Nakar.
3. They changed my mothers parent's names but I think I fixed this.
In conclusion I need to totally delete Eli Nakar from my tree and get back ownership of my mother in the tree.
Sincerely
Eliezer May

If there is a way you could complete the following merge, I think that will help a bit.

Fred,

Would you (or someone else) please complete the merge for Teunis Pleijsier, his wife Jacoba Willemsdr Poot and his son Willem Pleijsier and his (the son's) wife Anna Metselaar.
