I don't know what is happening but here is another of my husband's ancestors that I am no longer a manager of. The profile still has the notes I added and the photo I added but I am no longer listed as a manager. :(
Private Jonathan Prescott, III
Hatte Rubenstein Blejer I can't explain how it happened but somewhere along the line I was taken off as manager. As you can see by the revisions, notes and photo on Col. Samuel Eells I was a manager at one time. :(
Hi! Could someone please assist with this merge?

Best,
Eric
Thanks, Jenna XI!
It looks like you're doing some of my other pending requests as well which is very much appreciated! I don't want to ask for too much, so please let me know whether I should request additional help through another thread or whether you can take a look at my list and knock a bunch of them out.
Thanks so much!
-Eric
Thanks Jenna!

Jenna - thank you - in helping Eric you are also bordering there on some of my Sephardic tree projects - I have set up a whole load more merges in that area - will try to contact profile owners for collaboration. I keep coming across more people interested in this area - I can hardly keep up with them all.
Thanks again Jenna (and all the other curators who have helped out immensely in this and other areas)
My pleasure! You'll both need to work at contacting other managers as there are many profiles in that public/private time frame. I did look at many of the profiles to determine if the trees were abandoned. Most have new or recently active managers so you shouldn't have much difficulty reaching them.
Thanks Jenna - yes I am collaborating with many of the managers who have been active for a while. I am not up-to-date with the newer arrivals.
We somehow need to get some kind of "information pack" to new users that explains that the idea of Geni better than now - that there is only one tree - that you don't have your own separate tree and that duplicating existing profiles is entirely counter-productive in so many ways.
I give this message loud and clear to anyone I introduce to Geni and to those who contact me. But many slip under the radar, think they are doing their own thing and that is the way they should be working, and then wake up in shock one day when they get merged ...
I have been preaching better *EDUCATION*, for many a month now -- imploring Geni to implement better messaging. While there has been amazing growth in development, communication *so* hasn't kept up.
David Kaleita, a fellow Curator, has taken the initiative and started a "Getting Started" page on the Wiki. Yay David!
Maybe we should have a separate discussion for this topic. There's lots of good info on Geni - the Knowledge base, help pages, Wiki pages, blog, etc. etc. Some is a bit out of date but a lot is very good.
I think the real issue is getting new people to read it. A "Getting Started" page would be excellent. Most important would be making sure new users read it. Something in the Geni email welcome that points to it. Even maybe copy its contents into the Geni welcome email.
Multi-lingual would be good too ...
This is too important not to do well.
Could a curator please look at this merge. When I try it, I get the "we are having technical difficulties" message

Hi,
I got the following message:
Jenna XI has completed the merge on Arent van Santen.
View Arent van Santen's profile:

I still see some issues that should be resolved when I look at
http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000002738845735?highlight...
concerning Leendert Arentsz van Santen.
I'm not able to resolve this (assigning parents does not seem to work), so some assistance would be nice
Hi,
I saw another problem on the tree when i look at http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000002738798208?highlight...
these look like the same person:
Unknown Profile and Maritgen Pietersdr, but then there is a problem for
Cornelis Claesz van Geest, but the death date is different. for the two instances I have no data on this
so I cannot fix this.
Hi I'm using Geni for a few weeks now and am still finding my way.
I did find http://wiki.geni.com/index.php/Tips, but I'm still having problems with some actions.
Is there a good starting document that explains the basics like:
How to quickly navigate to a person (sometimes siblings are a very long way to the left or right; so to go there I view the profile go to the sibling there and then show the tree. I would image there should be a quicker way)
I also have problems with search. It seems people recently added cannot be found by searching. Is there another way to locate them?
How to "reuse" a person you have added before. I now add the person again and then move the person to its duplicate, but probably it should be simpler that that.
@job welcome to GENI. You can try a couple of additional places to read about stuff, but it may not be in one single place. For one you should search through the GENI blog, it has many interesting tips as well
You could also try this Wiki page, though it is still WIP
http://wiki.geni.com/index.php/Wiki:About#Getting_Started
As for search, there is a lag of 2-3 days as you have figured out before the new profiles are indexed. There is a date that shows up on the right top side of the search page to help know the cut off point. Unfortunately no way to reach those profiles unless u can reach those profile through a connection.
I presume when you mean reuse you are referring to the fact that a person is related to you in two or more ways and adding them at both places creates duplicates. The way to overcome this, is to go to tree view and search the "more" button on the profile. Within more click on "move this person". A movable profile of the person will be created it. Just drag that to a new window or within the same window in the other place and that will achieve it.
Hope this helps.
Job Waterreus I just revisited the profiles and trees you mentioned and did a little clean up. They should look better now.
Job Waterreus - couple of things you could try to locate someone you have added recently - try looking at your lists (top of the screen drop down from Family Tree menus) and select "Added by" from the Groups drop down menu - update the list and hopefully they will be there.
Also - on your profile page click the activity tab - you should see your recent activity and the person you added will be there - scroll down - click to link. Hope this helps.
