ATTENTION Curators, please assist

PS I also find the I, II, III, IV... etc rather annoying since it might be the case in one persons's line but not in others. I wish we could dispense with that business altogether, while it might help in identifying one generation from another, I prefer to have the dates in as the marker of generations. What do you all think?

Here there seems to be a bunch of mixed generations... Can someone help in straighten out this? Does it look like mixed generations to you all also, or is it just me?

No dates in name fields!

Use locations instead in the suffix field, such as William Carpenter, of Rehobeth.

The date fields have been more exposed in more places by Geni in a recent release, that should be sufficient.

If there a lot of confusion, we can curator notes in the Master Profiles.

Do NOT use name fields for anything but names, please. It makes the merges and searches terrible otherwise. And it's horrid database practice. And it makes more work for curators.

First off - you have William Leigh and Alice Felton linked to William Leigh and Catherine Ironmonger - William "Lee" was son of Richard Lee I and Anne Constable - the history shows you did the editing on these profiles ? I just wondered why and how we can fix this. Thank you in advance.

I did some work on Lt Joseph Rogers, including uploading sources, cleaning up the "overview" page, and adding curator notes. We're almost there I think now!

And guess what. It looks like I'm a much closer Rogers relative than I ever knew?

Where do I find the history showing who edited, deleted etc.? Some of my unsourced ancestors (who didn't connect to the "Big Tree") have been replaced with OTHER unsourced material, and made master profiles. I've searched far and wide over the years yet have never heard of the people now showing up as my 10th, 11th, etc. great grandparent.

Private For a profile history, go to the profile in question, in the upper right corner of the 'About' area you'll find 'edit/history' links. Click 'history.' A light box will pop up with the tabs 'Facts' and 'About Me.' You can view/compare revisions and also revert some things.

Also, if the profiles you have concerns about are MPs, you'll always have a name of a Curator. They may or may not be the individual who made the change you question, but will at least be a person to contact. Often, with non MP profiles the 'Contact Manager' is problematic in that the primary manager is inactive. The profile curator will be more than happy to have a knowledgeable person wanting to contribute!

Erica Howton It would be nice if you can pitch in too because what was done does not make since and if I even try to merge any of these profiles, a bigger mess is going to take place - too many wrong parents and profiles on this area. I can wait til you are ready to assist, and this line is not a part of the Lee's of Virginia - even though it is attached as so - and William Leigh (suppose to be William Lee) and Alice Felton belong to Richard Lee I of Lee's of Virginia. I hope I explained my concerns. Thank you in advance.

Jenna - I just found that John Lee Sr. has been disconnected from the Lee ancestry line that was there and fixed prior to your merge - what happened and why?????

Jacqueli - I accepted a merge that you suggested, but that dose not guarantee that the tree is good. But hopefully all the profiles are in the project and you can edit them or post here if a merge is too complicated.

Merges in progress always look worse than they really are.

Hatte Rubenstein Blejer I appreciate it - I did the merge because it looked the worse - so started the merge for the two Richard's after posting my concerns hopefully would work, thank you for finishing it off for me - . It looks like it did - so again thanks - the tree is along way off still from being correct - but to all who are helping - much appreciation!

Hopefully Erica will step up and help fix the William Leigh/Lee mess and Alice Felton - it looks like from the history this was when we couldn't find the original profiles so you re-create William and Alice.
It just doesn't make sense why Erica did this though since she was overseeing the Lee project at that time?

Even though he has been dead for several hundred years, this profile is private, how can that be? He needs to be merged with his 'brother' who is actually him. Can someone help? I seem to be back at the Boutilier mess. 20+ children is not correct ! ;-)

Jenna, thank you for the info. Yes, the merges have been made by non-curators and curator alike. People with two different names were merged into one person. It's beyond my ability to fix it - and it will probably be messed up again anyway. I'm beyond frustrated with all the bad merges I see here, and no sources either.
