Good evening!
I've accidentally merged 2 profiles and now I have 4 parents. I've already tried in my options to remove one pair of parents, but it gives me an error "Warning: Removing these connections will split the tree.". Could you help me. My profile Private User. My real parents are @Svetlana Aleksandrovna Pushkareva http://www.geni.com/people/%D0%9F%D1%83%D1%88%D0%BA%D0%B0%D1%80%D0%... and @Victor Nikolaevich Urkov Private.
Thanks in advance.

I think you'll find that you can perform this action. The warning that it will split the tree is just that, a warning. Alternatively you could delete the offending profiles or move the duplicate of your mother onto the mother and the duplicate of your father onto your father. (see at the bottom of the node - oblong with name in on tree view- "more" then in drop down menu "move")

I hope this helps.

Thanks for a quick response,
I know that this is just a warning, but it blocks the button "remove". The deal is that I've got 2 real parents and 2 parents of my wife. And the system propose me to choose my real parents, but again it gives an error. Moreover I can't delete these profiles because the family tree has been already developed and I have no permission to delete them.

So can you merge the two mothers and two fathers? Using the Move option on the dropdown menu from 'more' on the tree node? This creates a floating node which you then drag and drop onto the other version of the node.

I got into your tree through your mother who was marked Public and it looks like you have managed this now. I hope so. If there is anything else just shout.

No, that was me. I tried almost everything to solve this issue.

If I understood right, I should merge 2 fathers and 2 mothers, but they're not the same persons... Could I just split my tree and my wife's tree ?

Oleg, I work for Geni and would like to assist you with this. I see that one of your sets of parents match the names of your wife's parents, so I moved them over to her. Now she's the one with two sets of parents! You can merge the duplicates by clicking the yellow triangle on her box in the tree, and dragging one father onto the other, and one mother onto the other. Post back or send me a private Inbox message if you need further assistance.

Hi
I've been battling for 2 days to access my tree but eveytime I try I get a 'We're having a problem completing your request' error message. I have tried from another computer at another location and I have logged out and back in again but to no avail.
Am hoping to get help here rather than trudge through all the 'help' files.

Brendan, your tree should be fixed now.

Great, it is. Thanks a stack Michael.

Heather
about Ida Eller
you recommend the standard way. Trudy tried it before asking for help several times.
there is a message about "split the tree" and remove button disabled.

My tree was doing that too. Would not load at all for a day, It is back up now without the yellow tabs. I have to click on the profile to edit. I wonder how big Geni's servers are going to have to be to handle a world wide tree?

Judi the error you're seeing is the result of two master profiles being merged (before we put in code to prevent it). I'll fix it once I'm in the office.

Shari I don't know what you mean by "without the yellow tabs" -- can you describe it a little more fully?

Having serious issues with the family connected to
Lucretia Brewster
All the husbands seem to be the same person, including the E. Brewster who is invisable, with all of "his" children, W, M, J, R, B, E, G, and H Brewster. Can anyone unlock the 'invisables' and help merge all the husbands?

I had to disconnect a claimed historical profile blocking all merges: Elder William Brewster, "Mayflower" Passenger

Thank You Michael - I was beginning to get very fustrated since anything above and below would let me solve the conflicitin data of profiles

Hello, curators! I'm very troubled. Somehow 2 wrong families were merged. Now there is a big mess and i did it worse by deleting this other family. I hope you can help me.

My grandfather Karl Tamm had only 3 brothers and 2 sisters, but after this merge there are 12 of them. Their parents names match, Juhan Tamm and Mari Tamm. In my family tree there should be Jaan Tamm, Karl Tamm, Eduard Tamm, Linda Tamm, Elvi Tamm and Voldemar Tamm. Please, please, help us.

Johan Tamm
This is the right father of my grandfather Karl Tamm.

Helen -- I can't do much as most of what I need to see are private profiles. I'll message you privately to discuss some of your options.

Thanks Michael that problem was still there before noon and finally disappeared off the request list for conflicts this afternoon sometime - was dealing withanother problem of a new "rookie' who I had setup profiles to merge into the Hardesty tree 7 he delted and added and had a tangled web - - a big thank-you to Erica for her behind the scenes help of of here deleted posts to say corrected - Thanks to you both!

What can I do then to get these two families apart? It can't stay that way. Do I make some profiles public? Can you help us then?

Can anyone say with certainty, that this woman had 6 different husbands?

Eldon Lester Clark@Eldon, Mary Haddock has 3 managers so you could try contacting any of them or even requesting to share management yourself.

Kathy - The Martha Blackburn profile is private. You need to contact the manager of that profile.

Is this the correct discussion for posting historical profiles that are marked Private instead of public?

That would be the "Zombies please" discussion here:

http://www.geni.com/discussions/76010

Go to a nearby public PROFILE (not tree) and post the URL (the link from the address bar) into that discussion, as well as the name of the "zombie" profile. (It shows as private, grayed out and with a little lock on it).

Thanks Linda!

Well, I already managed to separate 2 wrong family trees myself.

Good Helen!

@Barbara: Looks like a bad merge. Clearly the Comeau children are not hers, as most of them were born when she was in her 50s or 60s. I'll see what info I can dig up on the family.
