Unless I am missing something, none of her parents are correct according to the about me citations.
Elizabeth de Ros, Lady of Kendal
could you please merge this profile
Unknown Profile with this profile
Relief Cooley and this profileUnknown Profile with this profile Electra (Electra) Cooley? there are a few more in there if you could even just set them up to request the merge? thank you
Kathy (and anyone else reading): it's not difficult at all to set up a merge. Anyone can do it. If you can't get to tree view, you can set up the URL yourself.
The format is:
http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/x?to=y
where "x" and "y" are the ids of the profiles you want to merge.
So for Relief and Elkectra it's:
http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/2562850?to=6000000002441529807
and
http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/2562928?to=6000000002441578423
respectively.
Create the URL, copy it into the browser address bar, and away you go. Anyone can do it. You don't have to be a curator. You can stack any two profiles on Geni like this, private or public. You don't have to have access to either profile to do it. You just have to know each profile's id, which you can often get from the search engine.
If you can list the profiles here, you can set up the merge request.
Oh, wait, as of last Monday it got a whole lot easier! We've added a "Merge this profile" on the More Actions menu of every profile. It helps if you visit the other profile first, as that will pre-load its name as a recently viewed profile. So view profile X, then go to profile Y and choose "Merge this profile" from the More Actions menu. Then just start typing X's name and it should appear as a recently viewed profile.
Mike - does that work with private profiles?
I am trying to set up a merge of a private family profile with two other copies that are outside the family at the moment - though they are the same person.
The family profile appears as recently viewed, but the two others steadfastly refuse to show as recently viewed - even though I have opened and closed them several times.

I have removed Adam+Alice as parents. There are two versions of John+Unknown. Is John the correct father?
David per your own discovery in the private message you sent me, I guess we do not add private profiles that you cannot fully view, to the tagger. Possibly because you didn't have permission to tag these profiles anyway; though the merge feature is obviously different, it uses the same tagger that you see elsewhere on the site. We have some upcoming privacy improvements that will further reinforce the need to keep these profiles out of the tagger, so as you suggest in your email the best way to do it is to start with the profile that you *can* view and then select "Merge this profile" on the one that you cannot.
Help! I am a bit of a newbie here, and got a merge request for my Great-grandfather that sounded legit - same first/middle/last name, very similar spouse name. I hit merge, and then realised that the two people are most likely *not* the same person. I see that the merge cannot be undone.
Charles William Cullen
Is the name of the profile. I would like this profile unmerged if possible, as
is *not* my great-grandmother.
Cheers,
Lawrence
I can "divorce" Mary Jane Bielby from Charles William Cullen and then you can go from there. Would that work?
Seconding Kathy: I would also like to thank Mike and the Geni Team for this new feature.
While my method works 100% of time, the new feature works for all profiles that you can fully view, and most of the time at least one of the profiles I want to merge comes into that category. The only time I think I ever try to set up a merge of two private profiles where I cannot fully view either of them is probably only when I am helping someone sort out their family profiles outside my profile area.
So the new feature works most of the time for me too, provided I sequence the profiles appropriately, as discussed with Mike.
A great new feature - well done!
Dea: I would do it in 2 steps as follows.
Let's suppose you currently have A and C where A is currently the father of C but should be the grandfather of C, with B in between, but B isn't there yet.
1. Create B as a brother for C. Now B is the son of A as required.
2. Change the parentage of C from A to B. Now C is the son of B as required.
Done!
Nina-- that is a private profile of a living person, so curators can't help with those.
To detach, you can go to your Tree View, click "edit" on Ida's profile, and then the relationships tab. There should be checkboxes at the bottom with relationships, check to remove.

Good Luck!
Mike,
When merging I keep coming up with conflicts etc that require the help of the manager of the other profile. I have tried merging in the manner that you have decribed previously and still come up with the same issues, leaving un merged files. Example is Unknown Profile
Linda Elizabeth Hughes
Jason,
You only have permission to merge private profiles where the profile or any of its managers are in your Family Group, and public profiles where you're collaborating with the manager. If you don't have permission to merge the profiles, the "Merge this profile" action will take you to a side-by-side comparison where you can request that the profiles be merged, thereby giving permission for whichever of the profiles you *do* have permission on. This is important because in many cases the manager of the other profile won't have permission on yours. So approving the merge creates an entry in the Merge Center for anyone who would have permission to approve the other half, as well as sends an email to the primary manager of that other profile, indicating that you want the profiles to be merged. At that point all you can do is wait for someone to approve the other side of the merge.
