There is a big mess in our tree after merging some profiles. Two sisters were merged as one. Can you please split them or do something to do it right again? This is the profile I’m talking about Varje Kivinukk

John Sayles, III has apparantly been merged with his grandfather, John Sayles I. I've tried to break the loop, but nothing seems to allow me to re-add a record for John Sayles I or remove the parent link.

Any suggestions?

Jeroen, see if it's better now. I had the hardest time finding a way to disconnect John III from being married to his grandmother Phyllis, but I finally was able to do it.

For future reference, is there any way I could've done it ror does it require curator powers?

Would a more experienced curator than me take a look at John Pelletier's tree and help him with doubles (duplicates) that he has as the results of merges, please. He posted his problem here: http://www.geni.com/discussions/90023?msg=674486

Jeroen, are you a Pro? I don't know that I used curator powers except to merge some of the stray duplicates in. It just took some maneuvering and some tricks you learn after a long time doing this. As I remember, I had to create a new husband for Phyllis and then merge her with a duplicate of herself and then do a lot of detaching and conflict resolution and disengage John as his own grand father, and so on...it involved moving the chess pieces around on the board a bit :--)

Sorry Hatte, I'm on my iPad now so cannot look at trees since they are in Flash (cursing Mr Jobs...!)

John Thomas Field Church is a private profile that I cannot make public. As he died in 1927 he falls into the family group privacy veil. Have you tried to send a message to the manager? The manager, Desmond Miller is an active manager -- was online yesterday. Desmond has no collaborators and may not have joined the Big Tree. I know you have great tact. I am sure he would want to know that there is a 400 year error on this profile.

@Carole -- I granted the divorce for Mrs John Field and placed her with the proper husband, Rev. John Felde. I think all of her children have been migrated over to her and the good Reverend. Some of the merges on the children are pending, I couldn't complete them. I am out the rest of today. If they need more work, post back for another curator, or send me a message so I can follow up tomorrow.

@Malka: Unfortunately, collaboration doesn't give one rights to edit a private profile. Only members of family groups can do so.

One of profiles in my tree has two pairs of parents. Geni writes, that detach of one pair will split the tree and not permit to do so. What can I do to detatch the wrong pair of parents?

Another problem I faced - adopted parents. It was possible in previous versions to define byological and adopted parents. I tried to attach the second pair of parents, but Geni require to detatch previous pair first.
