Not strange, brothers of John Cambell was born 1970's so this was a bad merge, I have disconnected this merge for futher investigation

Glen, Something strange going on with the John Harris merge. In my tree matches, parents and wife were the same and no tree warning. I have gone to the link you gave and canceled the request but it is still there.

If you talk about that he is still in tree matches, you will need to remove match before he is gone.
I have now removed that match, so see if he is still there

Yes still there, I clicked on remove again then went back and it is still there.

The Robert Campbells seem to not be matches--one is in a private profile zone (Lorna Allen Toti's tree).

Someone has merged two Robert Campbells (both with fathers named Archibald) together from 300 years apart--this is a terrible mess. We need to get Alaistair Honeybun involved to extricate Donald and family from this.

Here is the source of the problem, I believe.
January 31, 2011 7:32 PM Robert Campbell was merged into Robert Campbell by Marion Barbara Panther.

This must have been an overzealous hotmatcher.

It needs to be fixed and no more merging in this area, please!

To be clear, this is the profile with the bad merge: Robert Campbell

Two people are merged together who are not the same. I wrote to Alastair Honeybun and asked him to look into it. One family is a 20th century family from New Zealand, and one a 17th century family in Scotland.

Could someone please remove Mary Russell as a wife of John Russell (twin)

I don't know how she got hooked to John Russell.

Thanks!

Thanks a bunch Janet - you rock!

John Bellshire

This profile is private and the person hasn't been unline since 2008. Can somebody unlock it so I can merge it with my tree?

Lizzie, I made him public and gave him a decent burial. See if you can complete your merge now.

thank maria!

i am now able to see it but i still can't work on it because it only has the person that hasn't been online since 2008 as the manager.

Looking for advice, not someone to do it.

When you run into a merge where there are matches but one parent is wrong. Is it best to say they are different or go ahead with the merge and someone can remove the bad parent later. Here is one example. Not the best but sometimes children, siblings and dates all match.

http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000002447247668?return=bulk_c...

in a case like this, I research the 'incorrect' family to verify. Then i merge and leave a note about the incorrect parent, both on the parent and on the child.

Lizzie, go to the manager's profile and report as inactive if you haven't already done so. It will take a few weeks -- only two staff working on this for all 6M of us users -- but they can release the historical (i.e. born before 1850) profiles.

Is there any way that someone could make this profile public Percival Buck

The manager hasn't been online since 2008 and I need to add him to my tree. He is my great uncle.

Thanks!

Leslie - Curators can only do profile outside family group public, (outside x3 great grandparents)

Hi can someone fix this zombie for me
John Bellshire. It is under control of someone who hasn't been on since December 19, 2008 and there are a few of us working on the line
thanks

Richard / curators:

Please can we get a curator to merge:

http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000011361368046?to=6000000002...

That will make the John Bellshire profile available to all my collaborators - including Richard.

merge completed

was made public by someone else

:-)

Thanks Ofir. That has solved the problem. It was already made public by Maria in post 1587. The trouble was that though it was public it still couldn't be merged by a non-curator. See Lizzie's post 1588.

Now it can be further merged by a non-curator.

it would also be nice if you can find some data to add to that family
:-)

thank maria and ofir. i did report the manager as inactive as you suggested maria. she has left several older generation profiles locked in the tree and merging is not an option since she has not been on geni since 2008.

Great, Lizzie. Glad it is taken care of.

Ofir, thanks for working on it, too -- I took a TV break. and come back to find you had stepped in.

here is another one that is marked private and the person has not been on geni since 2008.

William Blize

thanks!

Lizzie; sorry but William Blize profile is too recent for us

sorry to hear that. i guess i will have to wait until geni can do something about the abandoned tree that it is a part of. until then i'll just have to ignore it. thanks for trying ofir!

Borttages, tack Remove, please

This is a fake profile I created to solve a problem with wrong parents being assigned to a profile and not being removable because this would have splitted the tree. "She" doesn't exist and neither does the connection between "her" two partners so I would greatly appreciate it if a curator could remove "her" from the tree alltogether.
Thank you very much.
