Its not even in the edit window any mre i checked - as such as mi=y profile I have listed as public - and other living relatives with no data in them - as i am a generational misfit and throws off the generations -
me 1951 - dad 1908 grandad 1880 great grandad 1834
mom is same way 1920 then grandad 1891 ....
because of another guy making my great grandparents private and his closest connecting profile is back 7 genrations i can not even correct the data he has entered on them which splits their family into 2 families he only has 7 of the 12 children listed and the children has been deceased since the late 1980's and he has not direct realtion to any of them besides the 7th gr. grandparents.
why i opted to make public most or all of my profiles - you know i could die in the next mintue and everything i have would be inaccessible to someone else ...
I don't know if this is the source of the mess that left me "orphaned"
Richard Warren, "Mayflower" Passenger

Nathaniel Church, I
Nathaniel Church
And here it falls apart. My Mayflower Society geanology shows Nathaniel married Sara (Barstow) 1645-1717 and my line continues via their son Richard Church 1669-1703
The "new" Geni version shows no marriage for Nathaniel
my version shows:
Nathaniel Church 1640-1689 Nathaniel Church, I

Hi Izzy--I know how strange it is to see your family tree on here, but the person who added them is probably a distant relative who got the information to add to her own family tree. To ask to be added as a manager, go to each profile, and on the right under "more actions" choose "Request management of this profile." Also, you should send an inbox message to Patti Kay Gourley and introduce yourself. Be sure not to create a duplicate tree but just get added as manager to her profiles and then you can add on from there. Best wishes!
The person who added my family is NOT related, she said she was not...she just seen my tree with photos on another site and decided to add them although I had requested in my profile on the other site not to use my photos on another site please...I know that was a foolish request...but I added my parents on here and now if I try to merge it says I have too pay. And I do not see where I can delete them. I do not know why someone would add other people families. My email was on the find a grave site..she could have at least asked.
So how can I add my family to what is already on here without paying or how can I delete?
Mike and Meg,
There was a big mixup in the Warren tree between two Church families -- Richard Church of Hartford and Richard Church of Plymouth (as I'm now naming them).
Please use the Master Profiles as the profiles merge into, and I'm working on the Warren line from the Mayflower Passenger on down. A descendant has erroneously mixed herself into my Graves tree. :)
Izzy,
Merging profiles together should have nothing to do with payment. You might want to claim your family profiles with Geni's assistance -- email them at help@geni.com
Pam sadly that is not how it works, I have an email address on my mothers profile, yesterday she received an email showing that there were new matches for her Tree, I became curious
I decided to check it out and as soon as I clicked on "View Matches', An Advertisement to get Pro appeared that covered over the Geni page which was in the background, I could not get to the Geni Page because that Advertisement would not go away unless I agreed to get Pro.
I worked around it by going into my account and found the Tree in question and looked at it. I wished I had printed the screen.
We who have Pro do not see what non-pros encounter.
My mother who is 83 ended up paying for 2 years of Pro because she kept getting the PRO view matches screen and not being able to see our family tree. I couldn't understand what she was talking about, I kept insisting that she could see the tree as a free member. I think Geni should consider changing this as it tricked a senior citizen and is deceptive.
Angus, any of the top three lines of blue/white buttons on the Geni screen still work. Or you can go to the blog or help at the bottom. OR you could try the Back button on your browser.
This is supposed to be a discussion forum where non-curators ask curators for help. On this occasion I seem as a non-curator to be using the discussion to help a curator. I hope no-one minds that.
Hi,
I accidentally gave a distant 19th century cousin Rose two sets of parents. One set consists of her real parents, while the wrong set consists of her brother and his wife. To make it extra spicy Rose married her first cousin and subsequently Rose and her husband are in a "cycle" and that part is thankfully correctly added. In addition, I added a long string of Rose's descendents before disovering my booboo.
My question is how do I pry Rose loose from her brother who I mistakenly set as her father? I have tried everything including going to the profile relationship tab and trying to remove the wrong set of parents. However, I got the red warning message announcing I would split the tree and so, alas, I can come no further without help. It seems that I am essentially deadlocked.
If any a curator decides to help beware of the following pitfalls: There are several females called Rose and Rosa, not to be confused. Surnames like Levig and Lester, Goldschmidt and Glückstadt again not to be confused. Lots of males with first names and middle names that are identical or near identical for example Joseph Hartvig Glückstadt and Hartvig Joseph Glückstadt.
The profile in question is Rose Levig

PLEASE CONTACT ME IF IN DOUBT.
Many, many THANKS!

It just take seconds for us to cut the bad connections, but you have to start telling us which parent set is correct.
Anyhow, I took a chance since you mentioned that the wrong one was her own brother and since she have a brother named Isac with a match on his wife as well, I cut him loose and merged him into her brother.
The profiles of my following ancestors (26th-29th GGPs) are private (but not zombies).
Although their manager is ostensibly my collaborator, and has logged in as recently as four days ago, he is apparently unable and/or unwilling to process my requests, which began in October.

He also manages a few more of my ancestors, presumably nearby, that lack a surname. Since all I have is their first initial, I cannot provide a link thereto. Likewise, I cannot tell if any of the above have nearby zombies who are not my ancestors.
Bjørn,
I took your 1:14 PM question as being directed to me.
Yes, I periodically search for mis-configured profiles among those that I manage. Finding them is much harder than doing so among one's ancestors, which I do more often, and is hard enough.
The English relationship terminology - "4th cousin twice removed" - gives no clue as to whether the profile is two generations younger or older than oneself.
The 5000 profiles limitation when searching is egregious.
As is the inability to filter on private/public (unlike in Lists).
