I worked through some of his tree, which he had loads of duplicates of. Some were in English and some in Alienese. I went ahead and merged where I could (you could tell what was what by the images he used).

btw, what is alienese?

Alex & Maven

One way I had dealt with Ionethen profiles in last merge attempts was to merge what i could, conforming names to standard English rather than unicode runic, and disconnecting what couldnt be figured out. His trees are usually accurate for the most part.

Mimi's doing G_d's work for us all .... :)

"alienese" would be an alphabet and language "invented by aliens" ... No known relationship to any true ones, including the symbolism used by native tribal people's of the pacific northwest.

thanks erica, i learn something today :)

Private User and Alex Moes thanks for giving me the heads up about jonathan pracy? if that's who he is.. was that a sabotaged line or a user mistake because he's my second cousin 7 times removed's wife's great nephew's wife's granddaughter's husband's third great nephew...

Erica Howton also had trouble sorting out fact from ficition with him.. I'm tired and feeling run down right now but maybe later we could debate the standards of entry Cyrillic english etc and what to do? should we force all in one group?

Hi, I went through all the steps to remove someone from my profile, however, it does not allow me to remove him from my page. Could you help me please?
My page is Private User and the person I'm trying to remove is the one I had linked as my partner Private
I know you must be busy but I can't find a way to remove.

You can delete him now!

Michael McCann - maybe spin off your question to a separate discussion. I can also say, with some confidence, the issue does not affect your direct ancestry, as the Geni member mentioned is not American.

Private User Thank you very much! I just checked and it's gone. Is there any tips you can give me as to how you did it or how I should do that if needed in the future? Thanks again! :)

Private User
There is a known bug in Geni which sometimes adds invisable 'ghost' relations to profiles. Such relations have to be removed to enable deletion.
Curators can do that for you.

I see, thanks so much for helping me out, I just got started. :)

So today i learnt what "glossolalia", "alienese" and "mi2" mean.

Still not sure about the user in question. I started from a bad parent set and followed it to the top of a tree built by several users. The top couple of generations match MPs, then there's some randoms, then profiles from another family. I suppose i will shoe horn as many profiles as i can where ever i can, i dont want to delete any but dont want to float them off into oblivion either.

If i find any more evidence of sabotage in the genealogies of the medieval Saxon kings from four years ago i will private message you immediately.

I need to break a relationship with a famous person, James Watt, the Scottish inventor. The family lore was that we were directly related to James through my Father's, Mother's line, and I had a genealogy provided by my uncle, an historian of British history, to back this up. However, as it turns out, though there appears to be a relationship, it is not direct, and we have not yet figured out if it even that blood relation exists. In essence, OUR James Watt is not THE James Watt, but I am unable to split the tree and rectify the error now that I have the correct information. What do I need to do? Thanks so much in advance. Liz

Elizabeth:

If you haven't done so yet, thoroughly document (e.g. in the About and with any sources you can upload via the Sources tab) the profile for the "not-famous" James Watt. (You may have already done this; if so, great!)

Post (in a note here) the links (URLs) to the "not-famous" James and to the child/children profiles which should NOT be connected to the 'famous' James Watt. Then a curator can fix the relationships and add Curator Notes to help reduce the probability of them getting re-connected.

If there is some controversy about this, you may also want to consider starting a public discussion under the 'famous' James, as a place to 'make the case' of why those supposed children are not. That way it will "stay around" -- attached to the relevant profiles.

Alex Moes thanks it's not so much sabtoauge that me and others are worried about in that line though it's making sense of the mess...

couldn't tell what was up so i assumed it was sabotauge it could very well be incorect character entry also in which case i am not sure how to fix or if we should try.

Erica Howton the person may not be a direct ancestor you do have that correct but he is one non the less.. second cousin 7 times removed's wife's great nephew's wife's granddaughter's husband's third great nephew... and in a line that has errors.. starting with him and working his way back torwards me that i am trying to formulate a plan to deal with some day but your right we should have that discussion about standards of entry Cyrillic english etc else where..

Thanks Dan. It's already been corrected!

is it possible that Hendrina Meijer birth date should be her death date

Angus Wood-Salomon

it seems OK now doesn't it?

i suspect that someone started copying a tree from somewhere, but messed it up and in the end gave up...

If you could get Tracy Maria to collaborate you should be able to merge the trees.

Henry Fonda

This is a duplicate profile less complete than the more appropriate profile with photo. Please merge.

Jerome F. Weber,

I was only able to request a merge on it.

Kevin

I think it may be an Abandoned Tree - in which case the merge can never be completed, and the best thing to do is cancel the merge request and forget about it.

It was added on May 12, 2014... so, I´m just guessing, she hasn´t been on Geni... for a few months... I´d give it a bit, still...

My experiences of late show following results:
I´m just locating related names from all parts of latin america, who have had profiles here on Geni since 2007, 2008 and so on... many of which, I am noticing, I am their very first "follower".
So, it would seem that some folks may just come back sporadically and not follow the "Geni"- alogy path, with quite the "Path"-ological drive with which some others, here on Geni, do. heehee!

I quack myself up! ;-D
