Dear friends, I need your assistance again... :)
I I need help undoing a wrong merge: instead of merging my 6th great granfather @Sebastián García Martín (Private) with his brother @Antonio García Martín (Private), I merged him as a brother of @Fabiana García de Yagüe (Private), who is @Antonio García Martín ´s wife. Could you please help me undo this merge?

Dear Curators,
Often I do a search a relative’s name and find out that he or she appears on someone else’s tree as well but the system still does not recognize them as the same person. How can I initiate a profile merger if in such cases? An example: Dragan Stern, son of Oscar (Osi) and Wanda Stern, appears on my tree (Dr Dragan (Mucko) Stern) as well as on Margie Miller’s tree (Unknown Profile). Yet the system does not recognize the profiles as potentially belonging to the same person.

Why is the relationship tab on many of my existing ancestors missing and thereby preventing me adding any marriage information? It appears that in the same profiles the occupation field is locked too?

Jonathan Evans , you have to be a manager of the profile or collaborate with one of the managers of the profile.

re: adding marriage/occupation info. My suggestions are:
1) Put the information in the "About" when you don't have access to the fields to put them into.

2) Contact the manager(s), asking them to update the fields ...
--or--
3) Request to be added as a co-manager of the profiles.

4) If there are questions or conflicting information which needs to be resolved, use the Discussions Tab on the profile to start a discussion about the question or issue. By doing so, the question/issue and its resolution will be documented for anyone 'coming by' later with the same question/issue.

Private User ... I'm glad that approached worked for you in this situation. Just be aware that approach is not quite so simple once documenation has been added to the Sources Tab and there are confirmed Record- and Smart-Matches to the profiles.

You've got a nice tree going there ... I hope you soon are able to find some connections into the Geni World Tree!

I tend to be carefull, but some of the old priests where a bit careless recording the information and mixing the last names!
I am reallly enjoying the tree, but haven´t tried the Geni world tree yet. May when I get more confident with the program and the managing of the information...

How can I view duplicate profiles in my tree. I suspect that this is happening in more than one case with more than one profile since merges were made.

How can I set a new profile photo for a profile other than my own?

1. click on the mediatab
2. upload the new image
3. click on the new image
4. click on the tab make this profile photo

I have by mistake duplicated my profile Jakub J. Kanděra to have a multiple parents and now I can do nothing with it. I tried to redefine parents, but Geni said, that it will split the tree... My wrong parents are Jan Joseph Kandera and Rozina Mach Kanderaova and I would really like to delete myself from being their son! I hope You can help me with this. My true parents are Olga Kanděrová and her husband Karel Kanděra (Private). Thank you!

Jakub J. Kanděra ... you should also be able to respond to the duplicates for your parents: http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000024725716595 and your mother can acknowledge the duplicate of her profile: http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000024726079520

Private User ... Tree View may be the easiest way to see duplicates and conflicts to resolve. If there are pending merges or tree conflicts, you can find those in your 'merge center' : check the little menu by clicking on the small number just to the left of your name in the upper right of every Geni window.

Attention Curators, please assist. I requested a merge on this person which was accepted but they did not accept merges on my other requests which has resulted in duplicates. This person now has 4 parents and 2 brothers which should be one. Private User

There are duplicate profiles for: lynn laughton, david perkins, ryan perkins, bruce laughton, marybeth laughton and michael sousa.

Private User ... MaryBeth has a parent conflict to resolve; the others should be o.k.
