@Sally- Info online says William was born 1500-1520. His wife was born 1524. They were married in 1540. A son was born 1542. So, If I had to guess, I would say c. 1520 would be closer than c. 1510. Or split the difference and call it c. 1515.
Anyone familiar with this line?

2nd merge completed. On the 1st one, I can't make the profile managed by Kathryn Mary Legg public, so can't merge it.

The Gallup family has gotten disconnected from its later generations recently.

Captain John Gallup is the founder of this family in America.

My line is as follows and was intact a month ago, but has somehow gotten disconnected:

1. Captain John Gallop (Gallup) married Christobel Bruschett
2. John Gallup, Jr. married Hannah Lake
3. Benadam Gallup married Esther Prentice
4. Lieutenant Benadam Gallup married Eunice Cobb
5. Colonel Nathan Gallup married Sarah Giddings
6. Lodowick Gallup married Margaret Phelps
7. Fanny Maria Gallup married Giles Williams

There is a lot of confusion around the Benadams. Both Johns became Master Profiles and somehow lost their other descendants. I have the Gallup Genealogy and can help with fixing this, but I want to make them all MPs and not have this happen again.

My cousin has Lodowick as the son of Chriopher Gallup m. Patty Stanton, whereas I have seen Lodowick as the son of Colonel Nathan Gallup. I will confirm in the Gallup Genealogy and get back to you.

I would just "move" my Benadam to Ben Gallup but there is something funny with the other Ben and Benadam Gallup profiles, perhaps they are circular? Could someone check this out. I'll look for the Internet genealogies and post a link. This is an important American family that should be correct.

This site is correct in most of the details although again, I'm still checking as to whether there is a generation between Col Nathan Gallup and Lodowick Gallup.

To follow up on the parentage of Lodowick Gallup, it should remain Col Nathan Gallup and Sarah Giddings. Christopher Gallup was born in 1764, only nine years before Lodowick Gallup, b. 1773.

Yes thanks to all the hands that have come on board eg Mauritz, June, Judi and all the others. Thanks to all. I have only been working on the Jacques Theron line and we are down from well over the hundred merges to only 8 today. Most of the remaining mergers are non public profiles with managers that have not been online for ages. Is there no way of solving these ?

I think curators have given those a try, yes?

I suggest opening a ticket with Geni Support (help@geni.com or from the "Help" hyperlink at the bottom of every page) with the profile links in question and making your case.

I also think it would be smashing if you submitted the story of your team's cleanup efforts to the Geni Bog (link below). I'd like to know more about how the project came about, how you all to collaborate, and what you've learned.

The place where it went wrong was with the children and grandchildren John Gallup IV + Hannah Lake. There are unmerged Benadams (Ben adam in one case). There must have been a merge that merged two profiles from different generations and there is a cycle (I think). I'll go back and look again tonight. I know that I couldn't fix it.

If a link to a profile gets posted a curator will be happy to try and correct. That generational listing is very handy, too -- can it be added to the "about me" sections of the lineage?

This Benadam Gallup ("Benadam Gallup, Lieut" born 1693 and married to Eunice Cobb) used to be connected to the tree and has lost his parents.

There are several generations of Benadam Gallups, only 2 of which are in my line.

Benadam Gallup son of John Gallup and Hannah Lake was born in Stonington in 1655 and married Esther Prentice. He died August 2, 1727.

Benadam Gallup son of Benadam Gallup and Esther Prentice was born in Groton (Ledyard), CT in 1693 and married Eunice Cobb. He died Sept 30, 1755.
