ATTENTION Curators, please assist

Roberta I MPed them both. I can lock fields but there is no way to lock relationships. As MPs, they will need a curator's permission for merges.

Private User ... if you could identify some of the "other" Thomas Oldham's who may possibly be confused with this Thomas A., please post them here also so we can make them MP's also. That is one way to help minimize future 'entanglement' (since MP's cannot be merged).

Dan, a merge was made this past week by a curator and removed at my request. I don't see any other Elizabeth Sykes profiles currently on geni, with or without the wrong spouse. However, myheritage has 32 trees with this woman, many with the wrong spouse. I don't want incorrect info to migrate.

Do NOT confirm any wrong profiles from MyHeritage....

In general just ignore MyHeritage matches.
Confirmed matches are way too dominating on Geni profiles, so ignoring or rejecting them is better. They are of no use anyhow until Geni gives an option to automatically transfer missing data to Geni profiles.

I can't access MyHeritage anyway...tho I do use the info as 'clues'....some are good, some are not....the Find a graves' are generally (but not always) good...

My MH PremiumPlus account will expire also soon. :(

The all you need as a Geni user is a MH data-subscription if you want to inspect MH matches to profiles and record matches (which is the most interesting and most expanding part including more and more national archives).
Premium on MH etc is needed if you want to build and maintaing a tree there as well.

I do not have any MH subscription....(it never recognized by password) and cant sign-up (same problem).....so I just look at the matches etc.....but can't either confirm or decline....

Since I am a member of familysearch (FREE) and a contributor and member of Find a grave (FREE)....I look at MH and then go to my free sites to see if the info has merit.

I DO consider MH uselful...but like a lot of PDF trees....fraught with as many errors.....and somtimes as messy as the situation which resulted in the MEGA-MESS that is still being worked on.....there are (I believe) some very good researchers, but their work is usally the first listed....the lower ones are usually incorrect.

My findings....others may be working more accurate areas of the Big tree contributiions.

I have a question. I have been added as a manager to some more family member profiles however the total number of profiles I was suppose to be a manager of has declined.
How can one be a manager of a profile and not receive any notice of change?

@Roger I believe the total number of profiles you manage counts only the profiles where you are listed as the first manager (unfortunately). So when the profiles get merged, your number of managed profiles goes down - even though you're still a manager of those profiles.

I don't pay attention to notification mails from Geni - there are too many of them. But I haven't seen any notifications of transfer of ownership either - don't know if they get sent at all.

Thank you Harald, while I thought merges may be involved it just seemed rather odd the decline would occur at the same time I was added onto another profile.

Roger, I believe that Harald is correct.....if you are primary manager you have x number of profiles....if you merge with others, and become secondary manager your count will be effected.

I don't know why at least two Geni members sent me here for help! I am trying to straighten out my Chandler line. On of the profiles is locked so I can't do anything with it. Master file it says. There were two like that but now only one.I am not writing all the info i have into this as it really doesn't look like it's the right arena for me to air my complaint and info.

Unfortunately that's a messed up tree. I'm on it.

Been talking with a number of newbies lately....can someone direct me to where I can find what non-Pros can see and do.....since I need to know what would benefit them the most.

I don't want to waste their time telling them how to do things that are not things they can do as non-Pros.

currently has 2 partners, both called Bartholomeus Hertroijs, but only 1 of them is correct: Bartholomeus JANSE Hertroijs.
She should be disconnected from the other one.
I am aware that this will result in a disconnected tree, but I will correct this after she's is disconnected.

I once allowed a requested merge, and now there are multiple problems in my tree that I can not fix. The most serious one is that my mother has 4 parents - her own parents and my father's parents. When I try to "assign parents" or to remove the incorrect parents in "edit relationships", I get an error message that to do so would split the tree. How is this fixed ?

Private User, I have fixed it for you. It looks like you have merged a duplicate of your fathers profile into your mother.
You get a warning on all fields that does not match in the compare window (like the names), so be more observant the next time - do not take requested merges as a guarantee that it is correct, but doublecheck your self.

I merged my own profile with one on my uncle's tree without being prompted - it just happened.

How do I undo this? I have people I'm not related to because he is my uncle by marriage.

I just would like our trees to be separate.

It's messing with my OCD.

he is married to your relative therefore on your tree. you cannot just change reality.
