Try opening her profile, going to the Relationships page, and removing the wrong relationship. Since she's on the tree twice, there shouldn't be any difficulty with it.

YES! That go it . Thanks a lot! -- Ralph

Need help undoing a merge for Abraham Hollingsworth Abraham Hollingsworth
I have learned through DNA testing that he is NOT related to my line of Hollingsworths. Have tried deleting relationships for "sons" and "grandsons" and it won't let me because it will "split the tree". Well, that is exactly what I want! Thanks for your help.

So....which connection exactly are falsch? Should i disconnect the wife with children or parents?

Jaak, Essentially, I would like to delete everyone "above" James Hollingsworth

I had merged at Abraham Hollingsworth Abraham Hollingsworth, but now think that the George listed as his son is where the tree needs to be disconnected. Thanks in advance for your help.

http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000022190833450?return=match%...

Is the merge correct or not? Very close dates, but i will cut loose the single parent Georg for now as you wished for.

I can't see anything else than name and dates match, so one of them must have wrong dates.
There is absolutely no match on spouses and children.

From the "about me" of the leftmost James:

James Hollingsworth

"I am not an expert on your branch of the family, but I do know that the James who married Agnes Evans is not a son of George of Abraham of Thomas of Valentine."

George of Abraham was the father of the other James.
Seems that the theory that they are the same has been debunked before, but there might be a similar date that has been copied over in error.

I hit the "no, they're different" button.

... so I have made them both MP's so they can't be merged accidentally.

James Hollingsworth married in the age of 15 according to his timeline, so I suggest removing the dates on that profile.

Good eye, Bjorn

I'm a bit rusty so thought i'd ask for advice first.

I want to split Jan Harms Mooskoocker from his wife and four of his kids, i think now that he is not the correct Jan Harms for those children.

Is the best method to add another husband to his wife and then move the children in tree view to the new father, then edit their profiles to remove the link to their current father and then finally delete the link between the mother and her wrong husband?

I think it´s always best to make things in order before splitting. That way you will have less mess later. So your reasoning is correct, but it´s better to move children by relationship tab under correct parents, not by "move this person" if possible.

Will do

I can't Split the Tree, could someone please remove the marriage between Grietijen Jannes and her husband Jan Harms Mooskoocker.

This will leave her married to Jan Harms with 4 children by him.

The children of Grietje are named Mooskooker. Is that correct?

They are currently but i have no idea if it is correct :(
Presumably they are not Moes, the only other Jan Harms i currently know of in the village at the time is a Jan Harms Hummellen, but it is possible there are others it's not an unusual name.
For the time being the best solution will be to replace the surname with their patronym.

I've disconnected her from her non-children and editted the surnames of her remaining children, hopefully this will make it a bit clearer, if smeone could just do the split for me now.

Alex Moes

Now that looks perfect. Disconnect done (and no chasing after lost children needed).

Can someone help me merge these 2 profiles. I am sure they are both the same.... I tried moving one or the other and that did not work....

Nathaniel Ide

Nathaniel Ide

there are 2 of them in my tree... I cannot merge them because there is no link to merge them....

I see they have the same number so should be one and merged if we look at the number ..........10917524960 but that is not so in my tree. they are 2 separate persons.... and not movable.

Sally, someone must have merged them.

Sally, when I tried to merge the two profiles, they acted like they were one and the same. So I did a search, and can find only one.

Does one (or both) of them say "This profile is linked pending a merge"? There's an ongoing Geni Superbug that has that as one of its (numerous) manifestations.

No, Maven, that message did not come up.... Very puzzling...

When I try to move one of the profiles on to the other, It does not move, just a message that says drop it into another profile mode, it does not drop... usually it will, and then you can go ahead and merge it... So why does it not just drop?

The other profile is probably locked. Open it and check, and if it is, contact the curator.

Both profiles are not movable. I will see if they are locked...

The links Sally gave do point to the same profile. I don't see two of them either.

When using multiple tabs / windows, be sure to refresh the view when you made a change in another tab/window (that may be viewing part of the same tree area).

Sally: if you are still seeing 2 profiles, can you post a link to a Tree View that shows both profiles?

I did not see any evidence that these 2 profiles were locked... OK Dan, let me go back and take another look.
