Sally it's true - the Chase line is messed up at the moment, we have a project to coordinate efforts

With your knowledge of genealogy, maybe work in a more obscure area?
I have accidentally linked someone to my tree who has the same name as someone in my tree... and now I want to remove those links. Please help.
My grandfather is Max Ross
I need to remove the link from him to Fanny Ross
I tried the using the Remove function on the relationship and it did not work. Please help. Thank you,
Erica... Having a quick look at Boyer's book, 3rd ed., I see something that raises flags. He says,
William Chase b. c. 1627, his second wife was not Elizabeth Holder, but was Abigail Hale.
The first wife is not named; but probably from Yarmouth

Dear Volunteer Curators,
I sincerely hope that this is the proper forum for this question/request and I apologize if it is not.
I am contacting you about this profile: Esther Brainerd
Esther Belden (Smith) is my 7G Grandmother. She is the daughter of Samuel Smith and Sarah Bliss and married Daniel Belden.
It would appear that, at some point in time, her profile became merged with the profile for an Esther Brainerd (Smith), who is the daughter of Simon Smith and Elizabeth Wells and who married Abijah Brainerd and Samuel Church.
I would very much like to separate out the two Esthers, but Geni does not have clear directions for doing so (or, I cannot find them). I don't believe that either of the two options I have considered: assigning parents, or creating a "new" Esther Belden profile, will address the issue that these two different people have become ensnared in one profile.
I contacted the other managers of the Esther profiles about a month ago for recommendations and have received no reply.
I welcome any direction, suggestions, or assistance!
Sincerely,
Julie Snow Regan

Can you Please try contacting the Curators who are managers of Esther Brainerd
Or my tagging them may alert them to this Discussion, sorry for the delay.
.
Erin Ishimoticha
Thank you, both.
Fay, I wish I had more information other than what I've already provided: the correct parentage of both Esthers. Any specific information you recommend should be in the About Me section?
Carole, I did message both of the above managers (as well as other managers) on 8/30 but did not receive a reply
But thank you for your suggestions!

I have a problem with this one
Try to resolve the data-conflict on one of the profiles first: http://www.geni.com/merge/resolve/6000000009162364045
I have been waiting for a merge on these profiles for a very long time. Can someone help speed it up?
http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000022484925728?from%5Fflash=...
Sally - when you see the big red message at the bottom of the merge screen
Caution merging trees (etc)
That means the manager is not currently connected to the World Family Tree
Only that manager can complete the merge request & (I think) only with a collaborator
So - send a collaboration request. I usually customize the message to include why in the extra text box space - "I believe your profile (describe or link) matches this one (describe or link). If you agree please accept this request and the merge request."
That's just my process - you can word how you like. :)

Could you locate this article?
Robert Charles Anderson in the July 1983 issue of The American Genealogist, Vol. 59, Issue 3: "Abijah Brainerd's Wives & Children".
"It references Simon's (Smith's) will and mentions Esther."
It would be great to use it as a citation / tree guide.
http://genforum.genealogy.com/smith/messages/54662.html
I could not find the above-referenced article (unless you are a member of NEHGS, which I am not). BUT I found this text of Simon Smith Sr's will, within this link:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~wcarr1/simon_smit...
I'm a little confused because at the top, it says that Elizabeth Wells was the wife of Simon Sr., but I thought she was the wife of Simon Jr...?
Anyways, I will keep looking but it is all I have for now
Julie
Geni won´t allow me to merge 2 profiles. Keep getting the message ´experiencing technical difficulties´.
Maybe there´s something you can do.
Thanks

Ray, i tried through duplicate profiles for both, and couldn't solve it either. However, by doing so, the problem seems to be with Mietje Naphtalie Verveer.L I don't know why. But, have a look again at the profile? Perhaps you see something that I can't see. Solving that profile will probably solve the rest. Good luck! :-)
Resolve the pending data conflict on the profiles first, http://www.geni.com/merge/resolve/6000000007296037949, and I am sure that the merge will go through. This is however just a workaround of an error not yet fixed.
Private User great find! There is definitely confusion about the Wells women, let's explore that more.
The shiny new Esther Belden is ready for her children to join her
There are several ways to do this. The method I use is
1) profile view > bottom (select step child)
2) on the "step" child profile, profile view > relationships tab > edit > (parents drop down box)
3) select the correct pair
Save & close
Repeat & rinse
The last step will be removing Esther (Smith) Brainert's incorrect relationships (disconnect wrong parents & husbands)
Intresting concept thanks Erica Howton i came over here to ask about how to deal with step kids from when my 3rd great grandfather's wife died young and he remaried and his new wife brought kids into the mix.. are u from the above post suggesting that there is a drop down menu with a step kid indicator to handle it?
