Curators please help. I merged a duplicate profile for Adolphus Joscelyn McCalla on my tree. I made a mistake and it is not the same person. Can someone please reverse it?

This is the link:
Adolphus Augustus Golding

Hi, Private User

It is most unfortunate that at the present time there is no system capability for a Curator to 'reverse' (undo) a merge. All of us have been caught at least once (if not more!) wishing we could.

The only thing that can be done is to re-create the "other" profile, re-constructing as best as possible the data fields that belong to each (it is nice when there are Sources, which don't disappear in a merge, or two "About" descriptions, which also get 'joined-together' -- at least in this case there are Sources to help a bit).

Then, once the two are re-created, the 'connections' to the surrounding profiles have to be moved to the correct profiles. Tedious, but necessary.

If you need help with the moving the connections, ask for a Curator assist (with specific links as to how each profile needs to be connected).

Please take a look at this link. David's father is Private & "Living". I would like to add his father from the DAR database. Can you help? Thanks Faustine

That 'Living' father is now dead. You will need to add the name and anything else you find about him.

Faustine Darsey He shows as deceasesed and public to me. I took management of his fathers profile so put in the correct name and data. Then request management.

Dan Cornett Looks like you beat me to it :-)

Faustine Darsey When you are ready let me know and I will MP him

Eldon Lester Clark

Okay, thanks.

I should know how to do this but it escapes me at the moment.
I need to complete a merge on Jan Willems Moes , when i try to assign parents i am blocked because it will "split the Tree!!!!"

Correct parents should be Aafien Jans Moeskoker and Willem Gaukes.

Could one of you complete the merge please, i am trying to clean this family up and will request he be made an MP in the next day or two as there is alot of confusion out there in WWW.land as to who his parents were.

Alex, Done. Edit, Relationships tab, check box of the ones to remove, click remove then save.

Thanks Eldon, i knew i was missing something smiple.
I even used that method to break his connection to the 3rd set of parents when i merged earlier this morning!!
I'll post in the "make me a MP" thread in the next day or two.

Jan Willems Moes is too common of a name (who would've thought that?), i've accidentaly used a document as a source for the wrong person but don't seem to be able to delete a source?
So now i have a death certificate that is being used for two different people :(

Alex, You cannot remove him from the document until all the facts are removed for him.
Go to the source tab on his profile, (it would me convenient to have the document open in another window) you will see the sources listed and on the left each fact listed for the source with a x next to them, click on the x to remove the facts. Then on the document you need to edit and remove him from the list of Profiles attached to the document.

WOW...That seems awkward

... yeah, there's no simple "remove all facts associated between this document and that profile" ... but maybe if it were too easy, there might be too many "oops, I didn't mean to remove that document from XYZ".

Because of slippy fingers I use the X to remove "cited facts" (typo'd Jan for John, for instance) all the time. :(. It's very fast.

Thanks Carole.

I'm terribly sorry to bother -- I had my hands on some bad research and did an incorrect merge, resulting in quite a little mess. I need some help removing the marriage I created between Hannah Keen Neville and Capt. James Neville, Sr.. I've put back in their correct spouses, but I can't remove the incorrect relationship, due to the "splitting the tree" error (which is, of course, exactly what I want to do). Thanks so much! So sorry to have messed things up!

Layla Krog

Disconnect done.

I added suffixes to the two James Neville's:

of Pennsylvania
of Virginia

Thanks a million, Erica!

Can you please check if this person is active Howard William Henry Sheldon. I have looked at his profile, but he doesn't appear to have been on genie in the past two years. Thank you

Alice: Howard has been on in 2013 ... if you can NOT report as "Abandoned Tree" (Under the Action button), then the person has been online "recently" (as defined by Geni policies).

Okay thank you very much for the information.
