Fay - she wasn't a manager on the profile or perhaps not collaborating with any either. I sent her a collab request.
Sheila - if this comes up again, try, from profile view, relationships tab, and the checkbox at the bottom of the screen to "remove relationship." If you were trying it from another screen perhaps that explains the "no you can't" message.
Just go to his profile, click Actions, select Report and the Deceased and customer service will take care of unclaiming his profile which gives you full edit access.
The closest Geni user will inherit his two managed profiles, but that would not cause any problem for you since you still will have edit access to them.
Rev. Joseph Walker Hall has too many parents, but Geni won't let me fix it because it would split the tree. Help!
His correct parents (according to his death certificate) are John Hall and Nancy Hall (Stokes). I put links to his death certificate and to his FindAGrave memorial in the About section of his profile.
Thanks!
I have reported the following profile, but is there anything else that should be done? Reverend John Wise How can a long dead person have a pro membership? Something is wrong here.
Thanks,
Jessie German
@Jessica Marie German - this is a situation that is called "Claimed Historical Profile" in Geni language. Someone has created an account using the dead person's information. Reporting to customer service ("CS") is the right thing to do. I checked and the profile IS reported, so there is nothing more we can do until CS has a chance to resolve the matter.
That makes sense from the perspective of how Geni was set up pre-2011 but now that all Pros can edit all Public profiles it seems to be an unnecessary anachronism.
I vary in my approach, sometimes i nominate the changes and submit them for approval (on day maybe perhaps), other times i just move on without bothering, very occassionally i will manually edit the profile.
Thanks Maven, obviously Master Profiles which have locked fields are not editable by Pro members unless those members happen to be Curators, I was generalising.
Fay, i'm talking about the most basic of details which come up in Data Conflicts, ie. was her name Katharine or Catherine for example. A Pro member can easily access ANY (non-MP) Public profile to change the spelling of a name, so the need to get the manager's approval for the resolved data is surely nothing but a hangover from the pre-2011 access changes?
Hi guys, I need some help. One of our cousins needs to be merged, and approximately 13 family members agree. However, due to an unknown inactive person , who is not responsive (or may not even be interested any more), we cant complete the merge. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks,
nathan@nrosencga.com
Nathan Rosenshein Pleas post a link to the profile that needs merging and also to the inactive person and a curator will look at it.
