- The user account is no longer active
- I believe we've isolated (or merged in and corrected the relationships and names) for most of the whacky profiles
- so the question is - what to do with what's left

I'm inclined to just follow "no merge" as written in the profile but perhaps prune off from a valid tree.

What do you think?

Why some profiiles do Not have - "Add this person" - when adding an Ancestor

They have profile names of - Father and Mother - Not allowing: addition, change, removal ?

Unconnected tree.
To get access you have to collaborate with one of the managers.

I have Collaborator & Family Group rights.
On few of the profiles it works OK (add this person) OR parent link on the profile name .

Others get the Father and Mother profile boxes - or Do Not allow for adding parent, family, sibling.

Geni is messed up - again. Hope tech support finds and fixes the problem(s) real soon.

Private User -- I have had some issues also that I reported. Could you please provide links so Mike Stangel can see if this is part of some known problems?

I have been on Geni for three years. Profiles very rarely disappear, there are sometimes bugs, but they can be rediscovered. Usually it has to do with merges, not bugs.

Again, someone could help you, but they would need to have links to a few of the profiles, even the ones that are still there where spouses or children are missing.

Are they missing in Profile View or in Tree View or in both views? Are there "ghosts" in Tree View?

Can you please provide a link to one of them? I understand your frustration. I was commenting on a possibly related issue in the trees I have been working on.

Geni staff can't help without a link. And it's possible that with a link one of the curators reading who is very technical could find a cause.

Try this one: John Waters of "Waters Lotte"

He's far enough out to be very public, and he's got a slew of kids.

But I can't see any of them in the "Edit Relationships" function.

I thought it might be a Flash problem, and tried disabling the latest version and going back to an older one. That wasn't it.

Private User Geni is having database problems and they are working on it. Remember it is the weekend and tomorrow is a holiday in the United States. It is not a Firefox problem. Just relax and see if there is something else you can work on.

Private User You can't see children in the parent's relationship tab. The have to be changed from their own tab.

There's still a serious problem around Mary Griffith Linthicum - *she* shows up in the Tree View, but everything else is on Eternal Load. And it seems to be specifically related to the husbands (two of them) she's supposed to have, who hang forever in the Tree display and don't show up under Relationships.

This was supposed to have been fixed. It isn't.

Got the same trouble with Somerset Rawlings Waters - I think it's spreading.

Private User You only need to post your problems in one discussion. In this case, You have posted the same thing in the technical difficulties discussion which is the correct discussion. Since all these problem are the same, a fix for one should fix them all.

Can I have a decision on Frances White Wells ASAP, please?

I've posted reams of evidence that she is probably the daughter of Ann Gray, Sir Richard White's first wife, and *not* of his second wife, Lady Catherine Weston. But I'm bucking at least a hundred years of "common knowledge" that is actually based on *lack of* knowledge.

Ben M. Angel was going to get around to checking this out, but - he's been excessively busy in the real world lately.

At the moment the *real* and *undeniable* daughter of Lady Catherine Weston is represented by the profile "Frances Petre (White)" - she's the one who came back to England sometime after the reformation, became her cousin John Peter's third wife, and spent the rest of her life on his estate in Writtle, Essex, England. When her will was probated in 1711, it named her sister Catherine and her cousin Philip Waldegrave of Borley as executors. So yeah, that was *definitely* Lady Catherine's daughter.

Frances White Wells spent the rest of *her* - much shorter - life in Anne Arundel County, Maryland, and died and was buried there.

There's no getting around it - there were two of her. And the one who went to America and married Dr. Wells and had all those children was almost certainly the daughter of Anne Gray White.

Petre, not Peter - feh!

Didn't we go through something like this recently with "Mary Browne, the elder" Hon. Mary Arundel and "Hon. Mary Petre (Browne)" Hon. Mary Petre (Browne) ?

Interesting that the Petre family is once again a marital complication....

Maven ... the questions and discussion about specific genealogical issues (e.g. those around Catherine Weston and the Petre clan) are usually better handled as separate discussions associated with the key profiles in question (i.e.: start a discussion from the "Discussions" tab on a particular profile).

That way, all the managers get notified -- not just curators looking at this discussion. Often the managers may have more/better info about the issue. It also associates the documentation/dialog with the profiles in question, rather than with this much more generic topic.

This discussion is primarily for issues where one needs to have 'curator tools' invoked -- such as cutting relationships the manager can't.

Thanks for you investigations! We're still waiting for Geni staff to deal with the messed up relationships you identified earlier -- those issues are well beyond curator capabilities!

Regarding those, by the way: the problem shows up when editing a profile and attempting to go to the Relationships tab. "Technical difficulties" error occurs. So it is definitely a database issue, not a "Tree View" issue.

Unfortunately, Frances White Wells IS a Curator issue. She is linked to the wrong mother, and since she is a Master Profile, it take a Curator's decision to change that.

Frances White Wells should be the daughter of Sir Richard White and Ann(e) Gray.

Frances White Petre is the daughter of Sir Richard White and Lady Catherine Weston.

They are not the same person (regardless of some of the more fantastical attempts to explain away the discrepancies).

(I think I had better call for Master Profile protection on Frances Petre (White) before someone mismerges *her*....)

re: Frances White Wells ... again, genealogy-specific discussions on that profile tab are generally better -- and they also notify the curator for that profile .... (mutter, mutter, "now to go find it ... a link is always helpful ... ahhh, there it is Frances Wells, !!! complete with some discussions! ....) -- thank you, Private User!
