I don't see a facility to remove a profile once added to a project.

was originally added to KZ Treblinka instead of the Auschwitz project.

The profile has subsequently been correctly added to Auschwitz, but I am at a loss as to how to remove it from the Treblinka project. Could someone please advise how to do this.

I have noticed this Pam - it seems that you have to do it from the project page at the moment - bit of a trawl through pages if there are a lot as there are on the Titanic projects! I am sure this is an oversight with the new layout? Noah Tutak ? [[54] ?

Hmm, it looks like Geni have removed the option to unlink a profile from a project in the Add to project menu, so you have to do that in the profile list on the project itself.
That sounds like a very difficult job if the project have several thousands profiles.

I removed some profiles yesterday from projects. Yes, it has to be done from the project page. On the page you click to see all the profiles. Next to the profiles you can click 'remove' . You can watch it disappear like magic ;-)

Ann - locating the right profile when there are thousands of profiles is rather tedious! It would help if profiles were organised/arranged alphabetically but they aren't!

... or if one could search within the list by a text string ...

Oh yes that would be such a good change! One or the other, yes once you have found it on the project it is easy to remove, but when you are searching for it in a project with lots of profiles it is a tough job and a bit frustrating...

Everyone has been great in responding so promptly, special thanks to Bjorn and June for referring the issue back to Geni. Unlinking a profile at the time of adding to a project would certainly streamline the process.

Dan, what is a text string?

Search ... that is, to be able to type "Graf" (while on the project pages) and get a list of all the profiles in the project containing "Graf"...

This an interesting problem and I'm having trouble seeing where the break is because the tree appears quite clean. Using the pushpin tool from Michel St-Pierre to your husband's grandfather I am already seeing:

Wilfred Bouchard is Michel St-Pierre (Dessaint St-Pierre)'s 6th great granddaughter's husband.

There does not appear to be new activity (within the last week) to account for this change - the path may be searching "wide" instead of calculating the direct ancestor?

I've had this problem many times, usually after some sort of merge, but sometimes seemingly out of the blue. It does seem to "reset" itself after some time to the more direct route. It can be disturbing to see a ggparent turn into someone who is no longer related to you! I have brought it up in here with no response. My guess is the coding on this part of the program is pretty complex. I think it would be nice to have the option to see more than one path. Because I have a ton of Great Migration New England ancestors, and they all intermarried, I'd like to see some of the other relationships. For instance, sometimes you have a g grandmother who is also a cousin or an aunt.

Hi, Iam sure that what I am going to ask was already being asked. I have being working on close to 1000 tree matches for the past 6 weeks and I am down to less than 300. Here are the problems that I encountered.
1.- Very few answered my request to merge. Most of them have a basic account.
2.- I just received a message thanking me for finding duplicates and wanting to merge but because he does not have a Pro account, he could not proceed and he asked me is there a way to do it if he gave his permission and how to proceed.

Will you please assist me on these issues?

Another issue I encountered is that it is impossible to merge a tree when profiles are privates. What to do?

Cecil - it is not impossible if there is a Pro Member of that Tree who wants the merge to take place. If there are claimed profiles on that tree and none of them want it merged -- then you have no business forcing the issue. Leave them alone!!

Cecil: About point 2, if the profiles to be merged are both public then any Pro can merge them, all you have to do is find a friendly Pro and ask nicely.
If one of the profiles is private then you or the other manager could set it to public for 5 minutes while the merge is done then reset it to private.

About 1. if the profiles are private and the managers are not responding you, well you dont have many options.

Your third question is too undefined to answer, are both managers involved? If so see answer to 2, if not see answer to 1.

Correction to Alex's "About point 2" -- if the profiles to be merged are both public AND both part of the Big Tree, then any Pro can merge them. BUT - if one of the profiles is not part of the Big Tree, then only a Pro on that separate tree (or collaborating on the profile?) can merge it into the Big Tree (or start a merge of it to another separate tree).

The PRO in the big tree and the non PRO wanting to be in the big tree collaborate. Then the merge can be done.

If private = family group permissions
If public = collaboration permissions

Questioning Erica's correction of my correction -- Must the person in the separate Tree that the PRO in the Big Tree is collaborating with also be a PRO (as I read Erica as saying)?

I believe if the PRO in the Big Tree collaborates with any user - whether Pro or Plus or Basic user - in the separate tree who is manager of one or more of the Public Profiles to be merged - then the PRO in the Big Tree can complete the merges.
