Unconnected trees are an entirely separate thing from public / private settings.

Erica - I understand totally that "unconnected trees" is completely separate from "public / private settings" - is your comment in reference to something I said, and if so, what? (I am thinking it is directed at my comment just above yours, but I cannot figure out how it connects to it)

" It is my understanding that any Pro can merge Public Profiles connected to / part of the Big Tree without any request or approval or collaboration. This would also go for a Private Profile the Pro manages to a Public Profile connected to the Big Tree."

- No one can merge private profiles together unless in the same family group

Is it better to say - in place of the second sentence above -- A Pro can also merge a Private Profile in his/her Max Extended Family (whether connected to Big Tree or not) to a Public Profile connected to the Big Tree. (This should be true since Geni has said merging from an unconnected Tree to the Big Tree does not need permission from someone in the Big Tree - it is just the other way that needs it.)

I thought a Pro could merge any Profiles he/she managed, whether in Family Group or not.

"I thought a Pro could merge any Profiles he/she managed, whether in Family Group or not."

- only members of the same family group can merge together private profiles.

A Pro can merge any two public profiles except MPs. This was the major change of last year.

From following this discussion, has anyone thought - if Geni members of long-standing and incessant use of the product are having difficulty with understanding how this works, how a new member would cope?

"A Pro can merge any two public profiles except MPs. This was the major change of last year."

Better phrased - two MPs cannot be merged together (part of the purpose of MPs; minimizing mis-merges).

"A Pro can merge any two public profiles except MPs. This was the major change of last year."

- a PRO can only propose a merge on a public profile in an unconnected tree. The manager of the "other side" needs to accept and complete the merge.

Would someone please check Mark Deffenbaugh for last online. Merges pending since January 2011

So, it's been around 18 hours or so since I noticed that the "thumb" images from uploads to pictures or documents are not appearing correctly. Does anyone else have this problem? Mike Stangel? Can you check this?

Another one Richard Dean Borden Merges pending since Feb 2011

Jessica can you point me to an example or two, of failed thumbnail images?

I got some examples in my homepage newsfeed for 7 hours ago, for example the thumbnail of this document: http://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000014080960283

Eldon Lester Clark
Richard Dean Borden was online TODAY. Reach out to him and see if he can complete the merges.

OK, Mike Stangel, If I click on documents (under research) I get hundreds of missing thumbs, but not all are missing. If you click on any of them you go right to the document, so no problem with that. If you go to my feed, http://www.geni.com/documents/view?doc_id=6000000016129649020 , Sarah1841SpragueDeath2.jpg is an example. It also opens correctly, just missing the thumb, and showing the file name for the thumb. Like Private User I noticed this yesterday afternoon PDT.
Thanks,
Jessie

Thanks for the reports, this should be fixed now.

Documents uploaded since yesterday need to be fixed.. working on that now.

Private User Thanks, I have a collaboration request pending if he doesn't respond, I will I M him

Recently-uploaded documents should now be fixed, as well. Post here if you have any other problems with document thumbnails.

Eldon -- took me a moment to 'recognize' your new display name!

re: Mark Deffenbaugh - nearly two years.

Dan, I'm back! Thanks, I'll report him.

Hello... There is a problem here I believe. Maybe Erica you could take a look at it and see what you think? It looks like a merge was done and it might not be right. I found it on my conflict of info list....
It is the Allen line. Thank you in advance...
http://www.geni.com/merge/compare/6000000000183035779?return=match%...

Sally, I would say no match. Different mothers.

I agree - no match. But I based that in the information made available in this profile: Robert Allen, Jr.

Sally Thomas, Eldon Lester Clark -- I agree with Eldon about that particular match, but in looking around that vicinity I found another small branch which I merged in.

Great, Dan! It's nice to piece together "tree fragments" (carefully). ...

Thanks, guys...

A fault with this lady's profile. She's wrongly credited as married to a 'No Name' and I cannot seem to unlink the two.

Private

Michael,
I disconnected Linda from 'no name' for you.

Would someone please check last online for Paul Douglas Van Dillen
