Cannot make Charles Vachon public. There are 11 members of the Family Group: perhaps one can assist?
Thanks Private User and @david prins for enumerating the frustrations I've been having when the primary managership has been removed.
Another thing that I have noticed is that when I originally added them (in 2008) I did not 'follow' them as I was the only person who really cared or made changes. Now that I have lost primary manager status, changes to the profiles are not tracked on my home page. I've had relatives orphaned or otherwise removed from the tree (or their names completely changed!), and it's only when I initiate a manual hunt that I even stumble across them. (For example if I notice a parent is disconnected from children, as long as the history still exists I can click on the original children's profiles, and find them even though they are now orphaned out of the tree.) Not a great big deal, but I often keep notes on sources and other items to track in the profiles so am losing personal notes.
This relative is not malicious, they just don't understand the implications of changes they are making, or how to source information, and don't really understand how to reverse changes or do more advanced management of their data objects...and yes, I've considered reporting them as a vandal, luckily I calmed down. *g*
Sorry for the novel, I understand it's not a curator issue, but I do appreciate the replies, it is great to have some visibility to how this is happening.
The daughter of Madame Marie Dorion Venier Toupin and Louis Joseph Venier is Marguerite Venier Gobin. Marguerite was married to Jean Baptiste Petit dit Gobin, not Godin. I am a direct descendent and would appreciate a correction on your site. The proofs are in the Catholic Church Records of the Pacific Northwest.
jennifer Gobin-Bailes Thank you so much! I hope the profile looks a little better now:
Was his third wife Therese Dubreuille or Lisette Gagnon Depot?
Am mortified I forgot about Revisions only showing for Primary Profile, which when there is a merge, is the one the new Primary Manager was managing (and which, unlike the 4 items I mentioned above as reasons Primary Manager mattered, cannot be fixed by a use of Manager Options to change the Primary Manager!)
Mike Stangel - I remember you stating this was going to change, we would be able to see revisions for the Profiles that were merged in. What is the status on that now?
There is something wrong here... The Underhill line. One father has the same birthdate as one of the sons... Can anyone fix this please?

I have two very similar profiles which I would like to prevent from being merged -- the source documentation on one of them is very dubious, but -- if it *is* for a real person, I don't want it to be merged with the other -- because that would cause a grandparent / grandchild direct connection.
So, if someone could make these two into Master profiles, I would appreciate it:
Ida Myrtilla "Myrt / Myrtle" "Granny" Smith (Rushing)
and
Ida Myrtilla "Myrt / Myrtle" Smith (Rushing)
The first is pretty well documented, but could not be the daughter of the 2nd one's parents (because the mother of the 2nd died before the first was born).
Thanks-in-advance...
Erica, Sorry to be slow in replying. This Jean Baptiste dit Gobin's last wife was Elizabeth Gagnon Depot. He was the son of Antoine Petit and Angelique Forcier dit Gaucher. Antoine was the son of Pierre Petit and Marie Anne Morel Ladurantaye.
Therese Durbreuille was married to Jean Baptiste Petit dit Gobin who was the son of Antoine Petit dit Gobin and an Indian woman by the name of Angelle. This Antoine was descended from Michel Petit and Maria Josette Parenteau.
Thanks for setting this straight.
Jennifer
The thanks are mine. I added your information as notes in the profile. My intent is to honor these pioneers of the Oregon Territory, and leave it to family to further build the ancestral trees. Now we have provided the tools of accurate information.
Madame Dorion is the "Step 1" Pioneer for Umatilla, Oregon. My 2nd great grandparents' names are inscribed on Step 20.
Everyone should know about her.
I can make it easier for you, Erica. Seer the Frazier Farmstead website. I worked with people at the site as well as a lady on the coast to track descendents of people on the steps. Hopefully they were able to get your family tracked as well.
I have been fortunate to be able to travel to sites in the Willamette Valley to speak abour Madame Dorion and others in the northwest history.

http://museum.bmi.net/ did fantastic work. My aunt contributed our family "scrapbook" information - but I got the details from them. They didn't know about the name change a couple of generations before, but hey! That's genealogy for you. :)
Could someone please tell me how 90% of my tree could have been wiped out? Yesterday I had 1226 family members. Today I have 96.
At a quick glance all the profiles seem to be there but when I click on Statistics and it gives me a list of the 96 then none of my 1st, 2nd or 3rd cousins appear.
Could it perhaps have something to do with a standalone tree I created?
The latest update seems to have re-defined the "Family Group" for searches to be only 'joined' family members. Check the Blog for March 27th:
http://www.geni.com/blog/todays-release-enhancements-to-family-grou...
This is definitely a poor change!
Brendan and Christopher - the answer is at http://www.geni.com/blog/todays-release-enhancements-to-family-grou...
These changes are apparently deliberate not accidental.
Feel free to comment there too!
OK, well, I don't understand why the change to Family Group only being people who have joined Geni was made. They should have been put in another category because now to me it means that I don't have any Family Members if they haven't joined Geni. Huh? Aren't my 1st, 2nd, 3rd cousins etc. my Family Members?
Maybe a distinction should be made between Family Member and Family Group.
I agree, Dan Cornett, this is defnitely a poor change!
Please leave a comment with your opinion on this "enhancement" at http://www.geni.com/blog/todays-release-enhancements-to-family-grou.... I believe that Geni should re-consider this part of today's release.
Fay Elizabeth Dyer alerted me to the fact that people were suddenly missing thousands of family members in their Family Group. I clicked on my 1,900 Family statistic and saw 274 profiles, and was appalled. My father was missing (deceased). My husband was missing (deceased). My dear in-laws and dear grandmother who practically raised me were missing (deceased). But random people who are Geni members who I added to my family group when I was new and naive show up!
Please go and post a comment to get them to roll back this change. I used the List view of Family Group all the time to aid in my family research. It was important and useful and doing away with it is not something that should be done without discussion in a "minor" release.
They obviously didn't think enough about the Geni members to post it as a 'general message'.....
It is a BAD change...deceptive ...badly conceived....I WANT MY relatives back.....oh, they are there, just don't count as MY relatives.....and Hatte is very right.....my children and grandson....my parents....my brothers....aren't even listed.....
They obviously did NOT test this 'enhancement' before acting......
