You're not supposed to "assign parents".
Assigning one set of profiles (paernts) EQUALS choosing one set of profiles over the other set of profiles EQUALS choosing AWAY one set of profiles. Which will then still live on somewhere in geni-world only now childless.
And we don't want that, do we now?
Parents should be MERGED not ASSIGNED.
Assuming both sets of parental profiles are verified. Which in your case they were.
...Or were they?
I'm only guessing now, 'cause your little branch of the tree is private (with most profiles claimed) so I can't see diddelysquat but I have a theory:
-Have your fathers parents been merged?
If not, there's your problem.

I have a situation which may or may not have a solution. I have cousins who married. the husband, Elihue shows twice, but wife (Julia C. Keen) only once. I cannot add wife to second profile of husband, (shows she is spouse in profile but not tree) I cannot merge the two tree spots for Elihue Clark Keen
Does anyone have a suggestion?

The same profile appearing multiple times can be quite common, depending on where the "focus" of the tree view is. For example, if two sisters from one family marry two brothers from another family, and your "tree preferences" have, say, to show two generations of both descendants and ancestors, then you will see the "x2" connection on those profiles, which lets you bounce between the person as a descendant and the person as the spouse. I've even seen a legitimate "x3" in one branch.
Sally Thomas -- re: Private vs. "different tree". The "green ball" on a profile tells you if the profile is public or private (Green == "Go"). These are all "public".
If you enable the yellow arrows in the "tree browser" preferences, that will show you if the tree you're looking at is currently "connected" or not (if the arrows are absent, it is a 'disconnected' tree, which then requires a manager/collaborator's approval ... at least for the first merge to complete). The red warning box in a merge comparison is when at least one of the profiles currently belongs to a 'disconnected' branch. That is the situation here.
(I did not see any major issues in connecting these these branches ... at least within 1 generation up and 2 down).
I think it would be helpful to develop a consistent terminology ... there is a distinct difference between a "private profile" (where only family members can see the details of the profile) and a "disconnected tree" (which is not currently attached to the "Big Tree").
Private profiles (for non-family members) show up with only the first initial and the last name in a grey box (if colors are enabled in the preferences, that will be distinctly different from the colored public profiles).
Disconnected trees (those for which you don't see any yellow arrows, when they are enabled in the tree browser) can consist of any combination of public and private profiles.
Please would someone check when this person was last online. He is not responding. Thanks.

FYI
If I am not here for long periods of time, it does not mean I have abandoned anything here. It just means I either do not have electricity or I do not have a working isp. The gov here has been shutting down communication to prevent the press from reporting on Indiginous uprisings. Which has been going on for days. Roads blocked and thus no food or water or gas is being distributed to various more isolated areas. Living here is becoming a real challange.
Are there any Littlefield experts here? There are several profiles which I do not have any further info on. One being the parentage, which appears on my list of conflicts, of Rebecca Littlefield, which is one set of Rusts verses a second set of Rusts? Anyone have confirming info on that? sources?
Here is the conflict link.

I have the same problem here.... The Hill line. Any one out there have further info? Yes, I know I am suppose to help myself by doing more research, but it is very hard for me to do, when I have limited isp service. If I use it all up too soon, I will be without email and other vital info coming in and going out until the beginning of the next billing cycle.

Also, I have tried over and over to update the conflict of info on these, but it just never happens....

I just had a delightful conversation via phone with a woman at the RIHS regarding a manuscript that I have, which they have in their collection, but I only have parts of it. She is going to make arrangements to send all of my missing pages. it is about the Baker line. I will be so grateful to recieve it, eventually. I find that if ask these folks that have these historical documents, libraries, etc... they often are very anxious to help. Thank goodness!
