Hi All,
Is there a way for someone to take control of this profile and the tree built by it?:
Mercy Harmon
There are numerous merge requests going to this deceased ancestor.
Regards,
Eileen
In addition to all the tallmans, I have, that are conflictive, These are the others which I cannot resolve because I do not have enough info. Here are some of the conflicts that I need help with, would like to get these done providing we have good sources to help resolve.
one is this, Rust and Littlefield...
http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000002992122131?resolve=6...
another is this
Cotton and Darling, how can all of these children have been born the same year?
http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000001574846960?resolve=6...
The Hill family, which I have no further info on....
http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000005596152406?resolve=6...
This conflict, Sarah Stickney Morse, involves the Morse family of which I am not familiar. Does any one have sources to indicate who the parents of Sarah Morse Stickney are?
http://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000002931201957?resolve=6...
Also Peter Tallman and Walstone-Wright. Apparently Ann Walstone Wright was married to John Walstone first, and then Peter Tallman Born 1658 second. John walstone was the son of Thomas, and Ann is listed as being the daugh 2 fathers, (wright) and 2 mothers. The parentage is contested. Does anyone have further info on this?
Ann Walstone (Wright)
Finally, we have this... another conflict, in the Baker line, which is rather removed from my line, but there is a conflict. Someone who is familiar with this part of the Baker tree have any sources to verify parentage?
Samuel Baker
Also I cannot fix conflict of info on this because it is all locked up.

Erica, can you help me pon this, please? When you get around to it? Thanks in advance.
Mike Stangel.
Have you been looking at the problem with the tree layout for basic users, please. It still looks more like a bush than a tree to me.
I’m asking because I’m going to invite a relative to Geni, but she wouldn’t have much fun viewing our tree as it looks now to a basic user.
She contacted me on Facebook, but I want to keep the contact with her here on Geni and our familytree, too.
Quote from Geni Pro just got a whole ….

The tree should not look different to Pro's, than free users. I'm eager to hear the details."
Unquote.
I posted a link to you to some printscreens two weeks ago.
@Private User ... you are a manager of the Mary Harmon profile (which is also named as Mercy C. Spencer). Can you go in and remove the email address? It already appears to be deceased ... maybe set it back to living, remove the email address (save), then re-edit and mark as deceased? May also want to make the name and display name consistent.
Make note of the email address (if there is one), because that may help Geni to figure out the account which was associated with it previously (if necessary).
However, that won't deal with the problem of profiles owned by that profile. I think you just have to report as abandoned as well as deceased and ask for assignment of the profiles.
Thanks Erica.
Do you think we can merge this?

?
Sally Thomas it looks like they are the same, but there is a big red warning at the bottom that tells you that they are in different trees. That means that the duplicate is in a user tree, not in the Big Tree, so you cannot merge them without permission of the owner of the standalone tree.
As to whether you should merge in a duplicate of an historic and MPed profile, that depends upon the circumstances. Duplicate trees in historic areas area major headache, causing a waste of time and introducing errors often to already documented and correct and MPed areas. Sometimes it's preferable for the duplicates to be deleted by their manager.
@Private User & @Dan Cornett
Mercy Harmon is marked as private and living, listed as being added and managed by Mercy Harmon who is herself . I am a Collaborator & can edit but not change the living status or remove the email address. This seems to be a bogus Claimed Profile.
Her User Statistics
Profiles Added 2,485
Profiles Invited 2
Profiles Managed 1,577
Her husband Simeon Harmon and Five of the listed children are private and also managed by Mercy Harmon. A grandson of Mercy and Simeon, Simeon Harmon who is listed as (1815 - 1897) is also a claimed Profile and Private.
Private User is a manager for the two claimed Profiles, maybe he will know how to change this.
Sally Thomas - Even when we were able to merge private trees, I always sent a request first and did not merge unless the owner agreed. You can still do that now, send a request. The difference is that now you cannot merge without the owner's agreement.
Carole (Erickson) Pomeroy,Vol. Curator & Dan Cornett
I've submitted a request to Geni for help to fix Mercy Harmon and the profiles managed under her profile.
Thanks,
Eileen
Private User - as a Basic User, I would be very interested to know something of the difference between what I am seeing (might be seeing) and what I a Pro sees / what I might see if I became a Pro. Can you doctor your pictures so you are not giving away private info and post here - and/or give some description or clue of what the differences are?
Private User
I can only draw your attention to the discussion "Geni pro just got a whole ....", and what were written there a couple of weeks ago.
I only know what I saw in my own tree by watching from my brothers free account. I don't know if it's what other familytrees looks like from a free users account.
I'm quite sure that Mike Stangel treats the problem seriously, and that he'll return when he has fixed my problem.
Henny, there is no difference in our tree drawing algorithm for Basic users versus Plus or Pro. What you're seeing is a difference in the settings on the Preference tab below the tree -- you're configured to show only 2 ancestor generations, while he is showing 10. If he changes his to 2, it'll look like yours.

I cleaned up this one by looking at the Timelines & realizing that there were duplicates for all of them ... and the conflicting dates, when selecting the detailed date (vs. "year-only" date), the children all fit into a reasonable sequence.
