I've hit this too. I opened a ticket with help@geni last week and they are still taking a look at it.

Q. In a tree if you look at the box, there is a line that goes to the persons parents. What does it mean if next to the line above the box, there is a number?

I may be mistaken, but I think that number denotes birth order?

Laura, I agree. I think it means the person is born first in that line-up of their siblings (according to dates). In trees that don't have dates, I don't see the number.

Thank you Erica. The funny part is I am reading a book called "April Witch." It's a fictious story about a young girl who's grandmother was a "Witch" during that time period. All she was was really a Midwife who knew much about delivering babies and CPR (which was witchy and unnatural back then).

The granddaughter knows these things from watching her grandma (whom was executed for witch behavior). It has lots of detailed information about that time period. If interested in Witches, this is an easy fictional read and a history lesson at the same time.

Add it as a resource to the Project! its sounds like a fun read.

Could someone separate John Clark, of Hingham from Sarah (Smith) Clark, of Salem They weren't married. I removed one John Clarke Sr from John CLarke Jr, but this one still connects them.

Thanks Erica. I literally meant the Kings of Scotland. Malcolm III, 'Canmore', King of Scots was my 25th ggrandfather with that bad relationship. Now that's been disconnected and he's my 26th ggf. I have do dig into that one now.

Jon, that Sarah and John Clark Sr had no relationship. They lived 100 years apart. What needed to be removed was John Clark Sr and John Clark Jr. There were two different John Clark Sr's.

One of the John Clark Sr's had a father Richard and the other Thomas. It's good now.

I need to interest you in my "Border Reivers and the House of Douglas and Angus" Project. Apparently I had ancestors on *both* sides of the Disputed Lands (Musgraves in England, Douglases etc in Scotland) ... and ALL of them kept trying to take down the Kings of Scotland.

So I'm hard at work Thomas Barnes lll and his ancestors. It 's not a mixup so much as a collapse from not-merging, so power merging is sorting it out. Will let you know when done.

Actually, Erica and I tease each other all the time. She's like real family instead of Geni family. We spent a fair amount of time Friday and Saturday on a shared branch of the tree.
