Fake accounts (claimed historical profiles etc) are/will always deleted by Geni and if they are in an unconnected tree (not big tree) all profiles will automatically deleted too.
This is just Geni's policy, and using fake accounts are breaking the terms you agree to when signing up.

You should probably have taken the hint when it got added to the fake profiles project and closed down the account yourself in a controlled manner and used the option to transfer all profiles to yourself.

As you say yourself the curators cannot do anything with this, but I can to do some digging tomorrow.

Private User - As far as I can see the deleted account Unknown Profile are managed by yourself, - just un-delete it and merge it into yourself.

Here we are again with Stephen Hopkins married to Constance Dudley... a merge request, which has been on my list for some time. I would like to merge the Stephens but not the Dudly and the real wife Mary...

Sally Thomas See if it is correct now.

ok, checking...

Dear Curators,
Once again I've got an impossible situation in my conflicting data box:
http://www.geni.com/merge/resolve/6000000001171445616
It says the field is locked, so I can't get it out of my conflicting data inbox. Hope you can help!
Thanks,
Jessie German

done

Aren't certain fields in a merge proposal sometimes locked for a reason?

Thanks Jason! Also, Richard, I had no problem with the locked data, as it is correct. The problem is that when there is a merge and conflicting data you can't get the notice out of your in box. Maybe Mike ( Mike Stangel ) can do something about this as it does pop up from time to time.

Hi! Please replace e-mail and send password to Vera Kislova. I can't do this but I was added this person. New e-mail is verakis14@gmail.com.
Vera Kislova.
Thank you for assist. Arnold Pesis

Hi Jessica,

The inbox request is supposed to go away if/when you resolve the data, but if it doesn't, can't you just decline the request, to make it go away?

Mike

Mike Stangel ,
No it doesn't seem to work that way. You click on the data you want, even if it is the locked data, and it tells you that it's locked, and you're back to square 1. You'll have to ask Jason Scott Wills what he did to fix it. It only happens with conflicting data, of course.
Thanks,
Jessie

I was originally a Geni Pro member, but because your focus changed and I did not want to be a part of the "big tree," I saw no alternative but to relinquish my membership. Since that time, several members have requested that I merge people on my tree. I am willing for them to have these files merged, but Geni will not let me merge them. Every time I try to do so, I get the message, "Merging profiles is a Geni Pro feature. Upgrade to Geni Pro to merge profiles and expand your tree." What do I need to do to let them accomplish these merges? Two examples:

Julia Merrill Moores Matisoo

Hi Julia,

Your profiles are marked as private, so no one can complete the merges unless they are a Pro user who is part of your family group. You can make the profiles public; or you can send a family group request to the person who initiated the merge. (If you prefer, I could join your family group and complete all of your merges for you.)

Geoff

Geoff:

It would appear that these profiles are public. When I try to merge them Geni will not allow it. I will not change my membership, even though I feel sorry for those who are trying to update these profiles. It's almost as if Geni is holding me hostage!

Julia

Julia - Now that you have made both of your versions Public, hopefully a Curator or Pro will notice and complete the merge. They can complete the merge now; you and I, as Basic users, cannot.

Geoff - please take note, if no one else has completed already.

Julia Merrill Moores, - I have merged the profiles for you since both are public now.

As Geoffrey said: Being Pro would not give you access to complete the merges anyhow since one of the profiles was a private profile, - unless it was a private profile within your own family group.

Anyhow: You have come to the right place to get help with merges, - as long as the profiles are public. Just post your merge request as above, - either in this discussion which most curators have a focus or even better in the following discussion where every Pro user can help you:

Thank you for your help.

http://www.geni.com/people/Marie-Exupere-R%C3%A9millard/60000000009...
Can someone break the relationship with her and Antoine Lebeau? Antoine was married to her sister, Marie Josephe Remillard, and for some reason, the relationship option doesn't show up on her profile? Is it because I am not collaborator with any of her managers? I am trying to sort out this 20 children family with the help of the PRDH. Thank you!

Private User I have the same problem. Needs collaboration :-(

Hi Barbara,
I removed Marie Exupere for you.
That's right, you don't have the relationship option button if you aren't a collaborator or a manager.

Thank you Ann! I have them all lined up now, just like the ducklings that they must have been at Easter! Although a lot of the poor children didn't live long, what a hard life it must have been, I'm just so grateful that I wasn't one of the women that future generations were counting on. GENI would have been a much smaller place, ;-)

Question -- If my 21st great grandfather was King of England, how "special"
is this?? In other words, how many other living people can claim this same
grandfather? Is there a way to figure this? -- Just a Guesstimate would do.

Jenny, a guess some millions of people can claim the same...

If one estimates that every generations produced 3 kids each, and a pedigree collapse of 25%(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pedigree_collapse a very common phenomenon within royalty), the 22:nd generation ends up with over 50 milion people.
Without pedigree collapse considered, the number exceeds worlds total population multiple times.

This Wikipedia article suggests that approximately half of the American population is of royal descent: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Royal_descent#United_States

Help! I cannot edit any of my profiles and the tags for adding brothers/wives etc are gone. What do I do?

Noah Tutak please help Michael Lawrence Rhodes Michael Lawrence Rhodes

Mike Stangel@mike or @Charles might be a better call for Michael Lawrence Rhodes.

Michael your problem should be fixed now. I'm looking into how to fix the cause...
