I'll work with you on it Eldon. I have a major family line across the bridge in Newburyport so chances are good at least one of those first families intersects with mine. I don't know how to embed images though in the Project description.

Well I fouled it up with a misspelling in the title. Its been a long day
http://www.geni.com/projects/First-Settelers-of-Amesbury-Massachuse...

They were terrible spellers themselves Eldon, no worries. It's a nice little find I look forward to. Anyone else from Amesbury - come on over!

Eldon, you can upload the picture as a document.

Re embedding images in the project description

http://www.geni.com/projects/Portaal-voor-Nederlandstaligen has icons like the "New" tag in the project description.

I wonder if they were enlarged (larger font?) they could be based on real pictures? You could turn a picture into an icon and enlarge it?

David, the problem with that is that you obviously can't tag embedded images as sources. If you upload it as a document, however, it can be used on profiles.

I do believe Geni has said they're working on a way to allow more wiki markup on projects and profiles.

Ashley - I thought perhaps do both. Both upload as a document to use as a source, AND use as an embedded image. It was just a thought.

Private User I have seen those requests. Since one was made in March, they must not be in to much of a hurry. I am going to continue finding the profiles for now and then try and make things look better.

I believe staff have said changing names would create a lot of problems, so I don't see that happening any time soon. You may want to simply create it again, with the right spelling, before filling up the current incarnation. That's what others have done.

I made the same mistake once before and it somehow got changed, I think a curator did it but am not sure. That was months ago. Anyway I have found 6 of the 28. I'll keep plugging away at it

A cool project Eldon! I found a next generation Bagley was a constable arresting witches in the Salem Trials of 1692 and added him.

Previous post deleted because of brain fade! Just about time to call it a day.
I am only working on the ones listed on the monument as original settlers for now. So far there is only one I haven't located on Geni, FAG only gives his name, no dates, spouse or parents :-(

Will someone please explain to me how I can export a list of all the 1219 names in my Famil Group and all the 1232 names in my wife's into an Excel spreadsheet?

That way I figure it will be easier to keep track of what I do and do not have, especially when it comes to BDM certificates and other sources.

The only way I know of is to download the GEDCOM, import it into your own software, then export it to Excel.
If you don't have the software MH as some free software taht will do it. I can give you the link if you need it.

Yes, please, Marvin.
That would be great. Only I hope I don't have to download their Family Tree Builder as it comes with a virus called - PAK_Generic.001 - or something like that.

Brendan Swemmer GEDxlate will do that for you, you find it here:
http://www.gedmagic.com/GEDxlate.htm

Personally I would have used Gen software for this instead of spread sheet.
I use Legacy family tree, and to add BDM certificates and other type of sources is easy and also to keep track of who has or not.
Other software will do it as well, so list is long.
But of course, if you like to use spread sheet, it is your choice.

Thank you very much Glenn

I use Family tree builder. It comes from the site and there is NO virus to it,

Thanks again, GEDxlate suits my needs perfectly. Although I bin using Geni for a while now I find it much easier to use Excel as I have done a course on how to use it.

Marvin
Thanks again, my Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security no longer detects the virus and everythings working like a charm.

Could someone please tell me if Zoe Jeffery - Private User - is still a member of Geni?

Yes - and no...

Her last login is the same as her registration date, and unfortunately she is the manager of 14,999 profiles because she as the closest relative inhertited them from a close relative which closed his account.

OK, thanks, Bjorn.

Marguerite (Marie Nicole) Godin

This is very Bizarre, she is my 9th great grandmother, I can Follow her, but "YOU DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO REQUEST MANAGMENT OF THIS PROFILE"! what kind of message is that? Is this a mistake? I have never encountered anything like this. Why wouldn't I be able to ask permission to be a manager of a direct ancestor?

I've run into that a few times and it appeared to have something to do with how quickly I clicked on both the follow tab and request to manage, so you may try it again.

i agree that being to 'speedy' may give false results.

I now have a management request pending for Marguerite Gaudin (Niard)
I was a fast typist, ;-)

Hey, guys! Has anyone talk about the bug of the "remove" button that stays deactivate in the "Remove relationships" area?
