At the moment when I search for a profile on Geni that is managed by a collaborator I can find it (by searching all of Geni), but then I cannot go that profile from Geni.

I can search for the same profile with Google and then from Google go to it with no problem.

I think even as non PRO user I should be able to go to profiles of my collaborators from the Geni search screen. (I am able to edit the profile if I can Find it)

Thank you, Terry.

Unfortunately the "managed by me" tab in search results can only be primary manager, due to technical limitations of our search engine. We're planning to address that but I cannot put an engineer on it right now.

However, we will be releasing some improvements to search results later this week, including the ability to click through the regular search results if the profile is in your maximum family range, or if you are any manager (primary or non-primary). Unfortunately this doesn't address Job's request for collaborator's profiles -- I'll bring that up with the team.

Thank you, Pam!

Linda, I think I got the Humphrey de Bohuns taken care of. ;^) Will keep a close eye on them. Let me know if they get tangled again. Part of the problem is that different sources number them differently, so I made them Humphrey i(II) etc.

i'm trying to clean up the proctor line could somebody please divorce this alice from john nicholas proctor sr?

Allis Proctor

Thanks!

Somehow there are two early Proctor families mixed together. John Proctor, Sr who settled early in Mass. and another John Proctor who settled in Virginia. Could someone please remove the Mass. Proctor line from the early Virginia line of Proctors. I think it starts at this profile:

John Nicholas Proctor

Mike Stangel

Thank you.

Not being able to merge is a problem, but the help of others we could still use Geni.

But not being able to add and especially not being able to add to profiles we or our collaborators manage, makes a lot users want to quit Geni, because we cannot do anything any more.

Would it be possible to change that?

Mike Stangel

Sorry. Another thing that does not seem to work correctly is the alternate tree view (5 generations horizontal view). This view does not show add person for all persons that could be added in normal tree view.

That is a pity because this view is very clear on where a non PRO user is still able to add to the tree.

Mike Stangel so my speculations earlier were not essentially wrong. After every merge there is a 50% chance to loose the primary managers position (for a plain user the probability should be even higher).
As the plain user has absolutely no controll over the merges, the search becomes a nightmare (she was here yesterday, why can't I find her today).
So in the tightly guarded and resticted area where you have kindly provided a space for the plain users (the ones without a special sign this time), every day somebody goes missing.
What was it called...?

i'm still trying to work on the early proctor line of virginia. it still is mixed up with the early mass. line of proctors. i'm tired, but i will get back to it tomorrow. if anyone else wants to work on it here is the best source:

Dear Curators,
In clearing up
Zebedee Kendall
I found that on one tree he has his brother as his father. I'm not sure how to handle that, so I'm hoping someone can clear that up.
Thanks,
Jessie

I'll help you with the Proctors. I'm interested in Early Virginia settlers, so let's work together to get them into Virginia and the rest into New England.

By the way, it looks like we are 17th cousins once removed.

Linda Kathleen Thompson, (c)

Done.

Are you able to resolve data?

Private User i appreciate the help!

Jessica Marie German sources agree with you and I'm working on the Kendall line. It looks like John Kendall, Jr. is my 10th great grandfather. Sourcing help in particular appreciated.

I had to stop on our Proctors for a bit but have more time this evening. The source you gave me has been an excellent help. It has been cross-checking beautifully.

For those who saw our exchange earlier, Lizzie has a family with one brother who emigrated to Massachusetts and another brother who emigrated to Virginia as an Ancient Planter. People keep putting the children with the wrong families, which puts them in the wrong colonies.

Erica Howton
Thank you Erica!
I resolved the data problem.
