For multiple manager profiles, call attention to the issue, with documentation / verification of the correct parentage if you have it. I think the easiest is to start a "public discussion" *from* the profile: that way it is tagged and people interested can help out. If I'm the curator, tag me in the discussion so I can see it. I'd rather let you guys do the genealogy though!

I would like to ask the curators to push for a way to bookmark or "follow" a project. It is quite annoying to have to use my Firefox bookmarks to follow my projects.

Didn't you see the new "follow" release today?

Go to m profile, upper right, "follow" me. You can be my stalker.

Anita, for the bookmark side of it, the easiest way to get to your projects is to visit your own profile and then click on the project under your main information. To follow, you have to follow each profile.

There will be a way of following Projects soon. Stay tuned :-)

Found the follow button...what does it do, besides put a link to you profile on my activities page for quick access?

Brendan...that works for the project I am collaborating on (Signers), but not on the one's I am watching for personal info (Mayflower, Alden/Mullens) or that I reference for Signers (US Pres) or that I am just plain interested in (Civil War Generals, Salem)....those are the one's I have had to bookmark.

Follow will give you news of activity on your "home" page. Someone played with their settings and built themselves a nice little grouping of profiles to "watch." I think you can also make some creative associations.

Following projects? That will give whole collections to follow like Anita is thinking. Very interesting.

Ah -- you should "follow" the curator of the projects you're interested in for a quick and easy way to see the profiles (i.e., Daniel Walton acts on a Civil War General, you will see that activity on your home page, then you can "follow" the profile directly).

But do you get to see who is looking over your shoulder? I mean, I want to know who it is that I'm annoying...

Yes, you are notified of your followers.

I plan to start a cult you know.

Just joking!

Does this mean I have to let the virgin go free? Darn...

lol...nuts!
ok can anyone assist in this area?

i believe the correct parents are james cole w/ susan bale. it was right, but you know how that goes ^U^

Done. :)

This tree has two levels mixed together. If you need help fixing it, let me know.

Marie Lafond:
Marie Lafond

Francoise Marie Lafond
Françoise Lafond

I came across these two profiles that were a requested merge. I think it is probable that Marie is an unmarried sister of Francoise and therefore should not merge. Could a curator investigate and make a profile note?

regarding the four merges from different trees - the managers are not connected to the big tree what I can see
Anita M. Boynton that was not a nasty message from a connect-refusing user - it was a polite and accurate message from me!

Please do not stop collaborating with me, Eldon! =))

Certainly I'm open to collaboration... as long as you can put up with my caffeine-induced rants, that is...

Maybe a curator could help here by placing a message on the article for merges. Not sure how best to deal with it and all the confusion.
William Kelsey, of Killingworth

The long tradition that assumes that William Kelsey's wife's name was "Bethia Hopkins" is based on Hinman's misreading the 1663 record regarding William Kelsey's daughter Bethia "Kelly", the wife, then widow, of John Kelly who later married David Phillips. This confusion was further compounded by attempts by zealous genealogists to link this "Bethia Hopkins" to the pilgrim Stephen Hopkins. There is no reliable record of William Kelsey's wife. The name of William Kelsey's wife, "Hester", is an educated guess based on the name of their first daughter, and generally the names of the first grand-daughter of each child.

Susanna Barnevik I don't think it was you, Susanna!!

Private User

Done, and very interesting, thank you. Take a look and see if it should be edited / source URL inserted. I'm going to add curator notes to the wives / not wives profiles as well.

William Kelsey, of Killingworth

Anita, it was me. I was trying to make friends and influence people... or was that make people friends while under the influence... but I'll try not to do it again... whatever it was that Susanna didn't do.

LOL Ben....and no, it wasn't you, either (I blocked that person) ....although with further consideration.... :)

Further consideration? What, a person has to pay to be blocked around here? Forget it, I'm a cyber-pauper... :)

I send Eldon the message about the four profiles that belonged to different trees,
I think sending requests to tree-managers that are not connected to the big tree is a big issue
Several of us have answered that you should not send merge requests to users that do not want to connect. Not at this point! The tree need to be in mucj better shape and the rate of bad merges need to drop first.
..and many other reasons that others have explained better - like Shmuel, Gûnther, Björn and others

regarding your question::
When you come to a master profile that has multiple parents, should you try and resolve the issue through the tree or just wait for the curator or manager to do it?

If it not locked (that points to that something is trubblesome there) please resolve!

How do you know that someone doesn't want to connect if you don;t send them a merge request. Send the request, if they don't like it, they'll just disapprove it. Simple/ (If they send a nasty gram, then make note, if they send you a merge request latter, remind them of what they said before merging, maybe they'll learn to play better with others)

Thats the way I do it, Marvin. The merge request goes out, they answer, or not. It's not actually a human to human interaction. :)

....and if you send that request to someone that hasn't been logged in since march 2009 and that does not want to merge ever, it will not get merged, but will stil be a pending merge in the main managers merge center.

You can cancel the merge request later.

...yes - I have to do that over and over again, Marvin, that is the problem =)
