Bad merges has nothing to do with pro or non-pro. Sometimes it has to do with the fact that all pros don't know about genealogy in other countries. E.g. a pro from Norway is not always capable in Danish genealogy. Even if the one has hundreds of thousands of profiles to manage.

That's one of the problems, that Geni is facing. And don't act in. In stead Geni blogged a Danish pro-user some months ago. A pro-user with interest in old, Danish profiles. His own name was related back in time.

The new rules have no effect on bad merges. Sorry to say. I want to enjoy my genealogy in peace in here. But something has to be said.

Something more. I want to be a pro, if Geni finds a way to pay without a Visa or Paypall. And - I'm not the only Dane who wants an alternative way of payment.

I can no longer accept merge requests which is going to mean a lot more requests for the Curators - is GENI planning to appoint more curators to deal with the increase in the number of issues that free users can't solve?

there are about 100 curators for 110 million profiles, that is to few. Even if there were 1000 curators that was to few. It is impossible for a curator, even if he had no private life and wasn't working to his own tree, to manage1 million or 100,000 profiles or to verify all merges and edits to those profiles. Curators need helpers ! Pro users can help, they have now the same edit and mergerights as curators !

if you do a mergerequest do it then in the way that is most easy for the merger, use the mergetool !

Not everybody knows the mergetool, for that reason I mention the mergetool here:

Can't find a definitive source on the Blake's...found three family sites that all had different info. The best source appears to be a book not available on line, and the closest library to me is 2 1/2 hours away. Mom and I talked about going there one day soon, so maybe this fall I can get there.

Thomas Boonie Harper was merged with William Thomas Harper and needs to be unmerged. William Hooper, Signer of the "Declaration of Independence"

If this is something I can do, will someone please explain how?

Anita, Geni is working on making it possible for some users to undo bad merges, but it's not available yet. Your best bet is to create a new profile for Thomas Boonie Harper and then reconnect/disconnect him as necessary. Erica Howton is curator on that profile and can help you out if necessary. Whenever you see a curator listed on a profile, it's usually more effective to contact them directly than post here.

Let me also do some merging and searching. As in the last case, perhaps it won't be necessary to create a new profile once the relationships are sorted correctly. Will post back when I need your help.

Curators please help with undo bad merges for Malena Lauritsdatter Torland.
There is on this profile tree conflicts, profile is merged with her brothers child, she at this time has 2 sets of parents her father and her brother, and needs help to undo bad merges.

Anita, you didn't break rules at all! It was meant as helpful advice, not admonishment. :) Not all curators check this thread on a daily basis, so it's usually faster to direct message.

I am not a PRO user, is the only resource for me to request merges or do merges is ask a Curator now with the changes Geni has made??

For and example this profile which has merge issues with multiple parents, etc. , even though I Collaborate with the other duplicate profiles manager, Geni will not merge or even request a merge, it just takes me to the ad to pay for a subscription.

How are we to go about getting these profiles merged???

If the non Paying subscribers can not even merge profiles with Collaborators or at least request the profiles to be merged, what is the use.

I will just post what information I can find for the profile and RELINQUISH MANAGEMENT, as I have no other alternative function.

Could somebody please tell me how I get back to the homepage after I've navigated away from it. I can only get to my homepage after logging in and even then I have to scroll one page down to see it.
