Is anybody able to help with more information please?
@Louis Cordier / Cortier
Some sources say he was born at Pas-de-Calais, Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France. Other profiles mention Orleanais. According to The Huguenots of South Africa 1688-1988 p. 156 his place of origin was Orleans, France (in French he would say he was Orleannais - similar to I am a New Yorker, meaning I am from New York). However, that does not necessarily mean Orleans is his place of birth. It does say that the place where he spent most of his life is Orleans.
So, on what can we agree: Orleans, Orleanais, Pas-de-Calais?
Any help will be appreciated.
Geni-greetings
Chris

Hi everyone, just in reference to his origin, the Bournonville (as listed in his marriage) I would say it is almost certainly the Bournonville that is a tiny hamlet just up the road from Épense where he married. It is too small to have wikipedia pages or general entries, hence why it has obviously been overlooked in France, but it does still appear on maps. I have attached a link to the location. It is about 7km away from Épense.
