I have been researching my fathers paternal line: de Jongh.
Sarel de Jongh
During this research I found information of a number of de Jongh family members who were POW. I have not found de Jongh included on your lists - please will you add the information as listed on the documents & photos I will add.

PS - I have started a projected for any interested in: de Jongh; Orange Free State; Philipollis; Otterspoort; Concentration camps

Anyone who would like to participate, please find the group & send request,

Thank you, Gail

My grandad, Harry Rodgers Elliott, born 1877 was a commandant of the concentration camp.
My grandmother, Adelina Jacoba Marais, born in 1883 was an inmate.
I don't know which concentration camp, but my grandmother used to wash the family's clothes in a river. I would be interested to know more.
They got married when the war ended in 1902..
They had a farm called Glendenning on the Fish River, that was passed down from the 1820 settlers, William Elliott and Elisabeth nee Rodgers

Hi Lynette,

May I suggest you join the projects:
Anglo Boere Oorlog/Boer War (1899-1902) British Concentration Camps

It will help if you try find which concentration camp - If your g/father was a commandant you could search British military records recording his service information.

To find info re 1820 Settler families & properties, see: https://www.1820settlers.com/

Begin by looking through information there, and I am happy to share sources of information e.g.

Happy hunting, Gail
