Wikitree's profile ( https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Browne-1215 ) shows James was baptized/christened in Blackmore, Essex, England on 20 Jun 1624. Coincidentally, FamilySearch provides a data-link where on that date, parents John and Dorithee Browne are listed as parents of a James Brown.

The most recent FS data upload shows where the source can be found in the FS library. However, the image of the original document hasn't been linked to the data yet:

WIkitree's curator probably accepts this event information for Lieut. James Brown, because it's the one at FS in all England showing a mother's name. All others show baptism records merely show a John Browne as father:
