"Royal Blood 3:301-303 gives #6 William [Gylbert] as the son of Catherine Tanfield (m. John Gylbert) and grandson of William Tanfield (b. 1488/1489) & Isabel Stavely (cont. chart 432, #2 & 3). This is unlikely chronologically and is being rejected here."

Also in Visitations of Northamptonshire (pps 141 and 49) Catherine is not named among the several children of William Tanfield and Isabel Stavely.

And her presence in the tree is causing a major inconsistency in my line to Conrad II, Holy Roman Emperor
While I appreciate being a direct descendant from royalty, I'd prefer it be through a reasonably valid lineage.
I tried to figure out where this Catherine Tanfield really belongs, to no avail.
