The Visitations of Cornwall, 1530, 1573, & 1620 pg 68 Pedigree chart states she was the dau of Gilbert and Ann le Botlier

However, others state she was the dau of Richard, son of Gilbert,.based on writings of Douglas Richardson.

If Joan Talbot who married John Carew was born between 1282 and 1295 it could be difficult for her father to be Gilbert married to Anne Boteler as he was born 1276. Unless Joan WAS born 1295, which is on the extreme end of what most sites assign. Richard the son of Gillbert Talbot and Anne Boteler was born 1305 which eliminates him as her father.

Gilbert who married Gwendolne had a son Richard who married Sarah Beauchamp. That Richard was born 1250. He would be a better fit for a father for Joan Talbert born 1282 to 1295, AND that seems to be what Douglas Richardson thinks. I think he is sometimes wrong, but mostly I feel he knows his facts.

The VISITATIONS OF CORNWALL WHICH SEEMS THE SOURCE FOR GILBERT BEING HER FATHER, WAS TAKEN 200-300 YEARS AFTER THE FACT. COULD IT BE THAT DOUGLAS RICHARDSON IS CORRECT THAT IT WAS RICHARD NOT GILBERT WHO WAS FATHER OF JOAN TALBERT, AND THE VISITATIONS IS WRONG?
