Many message streams are no longer showing in "Received" in my inbox on Geni, even tho they are showing in "Sents". if I sent originally or responded.. These are lots and lots of messages that have disappearee from "Received"

Anybody else experiencing that?
If not, anything I could have accidentally done to cause it?

Yes. All my message threads have disappeared from inbox except for 9!

Yes they do appear in sent but not in inbox.

There is a glitch and I hope its fixed!

Is anything being done about this? Is it a general problem? I have a lot of information in my messages that I don't want to lose and I can only see the ones I have replied to in sent....

With the message Caroline just sent me, my inbox now has 145 messages.
Sent has 1292.

Is there any reason to believe Sent is safe?
Do I have to go thru and click "Save" on all? Can I even count on that categoryc being safe?

In Received, looks like I have
1) Threads with just a Message received, none I sent
2) Threads initiated thru "Contact Manager" - have both sent and received messages. - includes both ones I initiated and another responded to, and ones another person initiated
3) Threads where it had been a message to more than one, the response was just to me - there for one, initial message shows in Sent, no response showing attached - the response just to me, with my initial message to that person but also actually to others as well, attached, shows in Received

Is this a desperate attempt to cut down on the storage they use, or some such thing?

Also in Received - new messages.
But if you respond, they stop showing in Received - ditto if you just read, but there already is a message you sent in that thread

Please can someone in Geni hierarchy respond to this?

I have lost all my messages where I have not replied, since last night.

Where do I raise this issue? Geni cant just delete most of my inbox without warning, surely?

you can raise a ticket, see https://help.geni.com/hc/en-us

I have no idea how many messages I had before.
I know many that would have been in Sent and Received are now only in Sent.
I do notice an email for a Geni PM that went to my email archive accidentally I have so far failed to find on Geni. (It was clearly a response, was trying to see what it was a response to)

Do you have any idea how many you had before?

As to where do you raise the issue -
You raise the issue by going to Help and creating a ticket
Or by PMing Mike
Or by tagging him in this discussion

I figure two possibilities
1) On purpose
2) major oopsie that he is trying desperately to fix

Job Waterreus - you and I cross-posted
- has the same thing happened in your inbox?
(Or are you one of those folks who always deletes finished conversation threads/ most to all of their email etc. so not applicable possibly?)

Lois, I get and sent so many messages that I really do not know if there has been any change in my inbox.

Thanks Job. I didnt know I could do that...will do so.

Hi again @Job Waterreus . I can't raise a ticket on that link, nor report a bug, because when I reach that page, it asks me to sign in. I am signed in already and if I click on sign-in it just takes me to my home page. I feel as if I'm in a Kafka novel!

Job Waterreus see above - I didn't know how to tag you....

As you are a Pro user you should be able to submit a ticket. That page uses an external service so you may have to logon again. When I visit the page I'm automatically logged in, so I'm not sure what happens. I'll have to ask.

If you use the @ you have to be patient when you enter the name (pause between letters to give Geni time to respond. It is much easier to copy the link from my name in the message above and past that in a message.

You should use the help link on the bottom of the page

www.geni.com/media/proxy?media_id=6000000188203173825&size=large

If by chance it continues to bump you out, I would think that would be a bug, and possibly the right sort to address thru an email - from the one you use for Geni - to Geni at subscriptions@geni.com

I hear from other users they also have those email problems

Thanks for your help. The message issue has now been fixed- hopefully fur everyone.

None of the help links work for me but I will also raise that using the email given. Thanks Private User

My Received now has 1019. No idea if that is all. But hopefully it is. Sure is a lot more than 145.
