Private User the same Geni user made the same merge again.

https://www.geni.com/merge/view?revision_id=81550510000

Jerry B. Sanders

Please do not merge James Wilson (birthplace unknown, b. before 1751, son of John Wilson, Jr.) with

James Wilson of Chesterfield VA, son of William Wilson.

They are not the same person.

Thank you.

I don't dispute that Mr. Sanders may be related to our Wilsons and Norrises somehow. But it looks like he's got our/his? Wilsons confused with these Scottish Wilsons:

Elizabeth Willson

Elizabeth Willson

Thomas Wilson

Thomas Wilson

Sarah Dinwiddie

Sarah Dinwiddie

Our branch came from Yorkshire England and were members of the Anglican church, originally. They have no known connection with this duplicate branch that Mr. Sanders has been merging/attempting to merge with our Wilsons, without proof.

(He has also reconnected Martha Wilson and "Patrick Calhoun" Norris in marriage, again without genealogical proof.)

His duplicates should have been isolated straight away.

Either isolated or merged correctly, anyhow.

Private User please start a discussion thread from the applicable profile and tag interested parties, this thread is not the place to discuss in depth confusion.

Thank you and good luck

I regret a merge that I made a half hour ago of Carol Cohen (Roman) with Carol Golden Cohen. I would therefore appreciate assistance in unmerging these profiles.

David Laufer - URL for the merge or one of the profiles, please.

David Laufer , done.

David Laufer - in case you missed it, Herman had,, over an hour and a half before you posted the URL, already reported he had done your unmerge.

It is easier for Curators to fulfill such a request when they have a link to the actual merge or at least the profile, so Emily was just trying to help them help you when she suggested you provide the URL

What is the purpose of adding hundreds of similar MyHeritage matches etc. to profiles that are wellknown, sourced and quoted, if the only result will be adding a tons of not corresponding facts that must be dealt with one by one, e.g. this source contains bla bla not matching facts.

Can anyone tell me?

Hello! I need 2 helps, please!

- I can't delete this profile, so If you could delete it for me, I'd appreciate:
Errado Desconsiderar

- I merged the profile of a grandfather with its grandson. Could anyone please unmerge for me?
Francisco Xavier da Silveira

Viviane Costa , both done. I also moved Domingo Gonçalves Senabio to his real parents, so please check if I got it right.

Please reverse this recent merge. I think we're all in agreement now that it was a mistake. Thank you.

Curators;

This profile: Daniel Stears
was born more than 150 years ago and is marked as private.
The manager is not active.
Please change status to public so that the pending merge can be completed.

Thank you,
Bernard

Private User;

I agree with you. When I find multiple smart matches for the same profile, I approve only those with new unique data. If none have new data, I approve 1 or 2 of those and reject the others (so no one else is tempted to approve them).

Bernard

Alex Moes

Thanks,
Bernard

Hi,

Could a curator please detatch the parents Richard Chippendale from him? It's in incorrect parentage.

Thanks!

Bernard Joseph Albanese -- Please, please don't reject good matches. What that does is tell the algorithm that the Record Matches and SmartMatches aren't a match, even though they are, and over time it just makes the algorithm worse at finding good matches.

If resolving conflicts takes too much time or isn't something you enjoy, it's okay to ask others for help.

Nicholas Stephen Ward -- Done, with a curator note added so they aren't reconnected. Please add a citation for the proper parents if you have one handy.

I have used the inactive manager option on Private User at least 3 times. Each time it says it's reassigning management to Patrick Merritt but it apparently doesn't actually reassign them.

I'm trying to (hopefully( get these merges completed, which are managed by Rebecca.

https://www.geni.com/merge/compare/983552?return=merge_center&t...

https://www.geni.com/merge/compare/983423?return=merge_center&t...

I have the same problem with this profile for Private User It says it's reassigning management to Doug Lynch but it doesn't seem to actually happen. This one is actually someone who created two accounts (he's a relative of my ex-husband, so he keeps coming up in "my relatives" matches), so I can understand if it won't reassign them, but the first ones I posted, I think they should transfer management.

Private User -- Management has definitely been reassigned, since Patrick is showing as a co-manager on each of the profiles you're trying to merge.

Unless Patrick or Rebecca logs in and handles your requests, you'll unfortunately just have to live with the merges being stacked but not completed -- we can't help with 20th C. private profiles.

Private User then why am I still able to report Rebecca as inactive and are you able to tell me if Patrick has been active anytime recently?

Well, lately the whole collaboration thing has been crazy. Back in the day my constant collaborator friends and I just added ourselves on when we did substantial work on profiles by adding sources, projects, media, documents, etc.. Now, that is not the case. I must "Request management." What is going on?

I didn't add myself on through collaboration unless I am connected some way and adding substantial time and effort. This makes me rethink my relationship with what I am doing on Geni. I am not the tree builder, but a sourcer, and I want to be able to work on profiles with collaborators. If the collaboration aspect of Geni is gone, maybe I need to reconsider my efforts. The collaboration and curation were the best parts of Geni and now,.... not sure.

And let me say that the above is all about adding to the discussion of Private User regarding inactive profile managers. If you cannot get hold of someone or they are reassigned to someone who really is not actively involved in the "tree improvement process" you are just messed up royally.

And let me add that sometimes with my collaborators who have specialties, I just shot them an email to look at a profile for additional projects, historical documents etc. I was happy to have them add on.

Private User -- No, he has not yet logged on since management was reassigned, but he has logged in within the past year. Earlier, I also went through all of the claimed family for both profiles and reported those as inactive as well, in hopes that that might help your situation. We'll see.

Users can be re-reported as inactive once every week...or maybe not exactly a week, but something like that. (10 days? Two weeks? I can't remember.) It's designed to let you repeatedly report people, because that can potentially keep adding more new co-managers and improve your odds of getting a response.

Susanne Floyd, I genuinely understand and appreciate your feedback, but curators have no control over changes to collaboration capabilities. Since you have a Pro account, I would encourage you to file a help ticket about how changes have affected your work.
