Affrica Guðrøðardóttir is cited in Sources as the child of Gudrod the Black, King of Man & the North Isles & an Unknown mistress, not Finnguala mac Lochlainn

Well, it’s all rather oblique, but FMG states: “Godred had three illegitimate children by unknown mistresses.” http://fmg.ac/Projects/MedLands/SCOTTISH%20NOBILITY.htm#OlavMandied...
And of “these” children are:
RAGNALD (-killed in battle Tynwald 1228, bur St Mary of Furness) and AUFRICA (-after 1219, bur Grey Abbey of the Cistercians,

In another source https://www.poms.ac.uk/record/factoid/7651/ It mentions Affrica, sister of King Rognvald, whom I'm assuming is also RAGNALD.

further...it says GODRED married FINGOLA, daughter of --- of Ireland & his wife ---. The Chronicon Manniæ et Insularum records that King Godred married “Phingola filia MacLotlen filii Murkartac regis Hiberniæ”, mother of his son, in a Christian marriage ceremony in 1176[1300]. Godred & his wife HAD ONE CHILD:
a) OLAV ([1172/73]-21 May 1237, bur Rushen St Mary). The Chronicon Manniæ et Insularum names Olav as the son of King Godred and his wife, adding that he was three years old when his parents were married[1301]. King of Man.
with his mistresses he had three illegitimate children:
RAGNALD, IVAR, and AUFRICA.

That's how I interpret it.

Grey Abbey is in Co. Down Northern Ireland. Along with Inch Abbey, Greyabbey is the best example of Anglo-Norman Cistercian architecture in Ulster and was the daughter house of Holm Cultram (Cumbria). It was founded in 1193 by Affreca, wife of John de Courcy, the Anglo-Norman invader of East Ulster. Poor and decayed in the late Middle Ages, the abbey was dissolved in 1541.
It seems likely that Aufrica was the wife of John de Courcy —or her mother?

Oh, hang on Marvin Loyd Welborn (cf https://www.geni.com/discussions/233903?msg=1485780) - What Source do you have that cites Olaf II "the Black", King of Isle of Man 's three illegitimate children as RAGNALD, IVAR, and AUFRICA?

Medlands gives him 4 legitimate children by CHRISTINA (do FERQUHARD MacTaggart):

and places those 3 illegitimate children as offspring of Gudrod the Black, King of Man & the North Isles

  • RAGNALD (-1228) *IVAR *AUFRICA (->1219) x(1180) JOHN de Curcy

I'll add Affrica Guðrøðardóttir to the project Historic Buildings of Co. Down, Northern Ireland: https://www.geni.com/projects/Historic-Buildings-of-Co-Down-Northern-Ireland/25184
