Hey everyone! Time is drawing short for Flash integration in web browsers, so we've been hard at work trying to make the HTML version of our tree interface as comfortable and full-featured as possible. When we first introduced the HTML tree, one of the things we heard is that the softer color scheme gets tiring on the eyes after awhile. In response to that feedback, we're excited to announce some new customization features in the HTML tree, particularly a larger font size and custom colors.
You can read all about the new customization features on our blog at https://www.geni.com/blog/new-customization-options-for-the-family-...
If you're not yet ready to give up the Flash version of the tree, you can try the HTML tree with this link: https://www.geni.com/family-tree/canvas
If you're ready to make the switch, you can do so with the little triangle pull-down next to "Tree" in the header, or you can use this link: https://www.geni.com/family-tree/switch?tree_version=canvas
We hope you'll find this improves your experience using our tree interface, and look forward to hearing your feedback (and bug reports) in the replies below.
Mike Stangel I pretty much love this, except I think there’s an implementation bug - the conflict resolution triangle no longer opens the stacking tray, and in fact the tree doesn’t redraw at all. But the colors work great. Maybe a box line option in the future; sometimes a border around a box looks hot.
Job Waterreus a/o Private User :
Can you please make a coorect transcription/translation of what is communicating here? Afterwards i can have a try to find French, German e/o Italian geni-collegues to do that in their portal-discussions...
https://www.geni.com/blog/new-customization-options-for-the-family-... (vertaalde versie https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=en&tl=nl&u=https:...)

Mike Stangel - in addition to Erin's comment just above
I have been using the HTML version for a long time now. On a Desk Top I could get the stacking tray for Tree Conflict Resolution, but on my Tablet it gives me Tree View instead of the stacking tray - this has been the case since early April at least, and if I am in Tree View currently nothing happens when I touch one of the yellow triangles (do not remember if that has been the case since early April also, or if it used to redraw the Tree)
Others who were on a device where that was working report it went bad just recently

Then Erica reported "Conflict triangle is working again"
After which folks said no, its not

Plus you have Erin's comment just above
Conflict resolution triangle isn't working for me either - rather recent development over past few days. I have been using HTML tree for a long time now also and not has any issues until now.
I have noticed an additional recent problem with not being able to click on profiles from typing in a name on the search bar and have it automatically populate like it used to do. That has been happening now for several weeks, I just thought it might go away, but it is still a nuisance.
I have been able to manually merge profiles by going to the drop down box and hitting "merge profile" but I don't know that I see all of the associated other profile issues when I do that. It is ok for a one and done, but not for clean-up. Thanks for all you all do.
In your browser settings usually. Another option is “clear cookies for Geni” - maybe Job Waterreus remembers the URL so it’s Geni only? (I’ve forgotten the syntax). You’d need to login again on Geni, but it could very well do the trick.
or Firefox: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/how-clear-firefox-cache
For Chrome: https://support.google.com/accounts/answer/32050?co=GENIE.Platform%...
For Edge: https://www.bitdefender.com/consumer/support/answer/2010/
Clearing the cache is different for each browser, so if you use another browser just search for it on Google. (clear cache <browsername>)
For clearing cookies you can try: http://www.geni.com/login/clear_cookies
if I remember correctly you will be logged out after that, so you will have to logon again.
I tried it and was logged out, Job Waterreus and logged back in. When I found a triangle in my tree to click on, it went to a blank screen again.
Curiously, I believe that my triangles are disappearing somehow. The one I clicked on that went to a white screen, disappeared as a conflict, though I did nothing. I have no Conflict Resolution Triangles in my tree right now (or it looked that way to me) and I don't think that is even right, though I do try to work on things.
Job Waterreus, here is a profile of someone connected to me Frederick Douglas Mishoe. It had a yellow conflict resolution triangle on it when I first clicked on the profile after logging out and logging back in. When I clicked on the triangle to go to the merge screen, it went to a blank screen and now there is no conflict triangle on the profile on my screen yet there are obvious duplicate profiles - wife and several children.
Hope this helps describe what is happening. Susanne
Job Waterreus - I used the link, I think well over a year ago, that Mike gave to clear Geni cookies and it killed Bookmarks on my Android Tablet - not as in had to be re-chosen but as in spinning wildly forever if tried to choose "Bookmarks" or clicked on the star indicating a site was bookmarked.
Am not willing to risk that happening again,
Clicking on (touching) Tree Conflict just brings up Tree View, does not get the Conflict Resolution Stacking Tray on either of the Android Tablets I have used starting using with pandemic shutdown of the University Libraries I used to use to get on the internet. Touching the Conflict Triangle in Tree View does nothing.
Susanne Floyd - on and off the grid, I still see a conflict near Frederick Douglas Mishoe on the Flash tree:
https://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000000676220725?resolve=...
But Mike Stangel should look at these problems
Job Waterreus, I am using the HTML tree and nothing shows on the family tree link you posted but a blank screen. On the profile of Frederick Douglas Mishoe, there is no conflict resolution triangle showing and should be given that he has two wives who are the same and a daughter who has a duplicate profile.
I stopped using the Flash tree some time ago as suggested by Geni since it was going away. I know you folks can get this fixed and it may take some time. It is a new thing. I will just keep posting here if I notice any changes - good or bad. Right now for me, the functionality is compromised, but I can make adjustments with manual merges and the "merge this profile tab." Not perfect, but will do for now until you all get it fixed. I know I thought a whole branch of my tree was lost once and you found it. I have faith. SFG
I can see that screen using Flash, so the problem is with the HTML tree.
It does go from https://www.geni.com/family-tree/index/6000000000676220725?resolve=...
to https://www.geni.com/family-tree/canvas/6000000000676220725 if I do not enable Flash. When I click on the triangle there it starts building the resolution window but then goes to a blank screen on the HTML tree.
