Edward Fitzpatrick d 1696

Several other remarkable personages were buried in the choir, but none of their monuments are now to be found. . . . 1696 -- November 9, the William packet boat, coming from Holyhead with 80 passengers, among whom was Brigadier Fitzpatrick and several other officers, was, by a violent storm, cast away near Sutton, in Dublin bay ; all persons, except the master and a boy, were lost ; the body of Brigadier Fitzpatrick was found upon the shore, which being brought to Dublin, was, on the 19th, honorably interred in the choir. . . . he was elder brother of Richard, first Lord Gowran, the son of which latter was created Earl of Upper Ossory. Archdall, Vol. II. pag. 346. The history and antiquities of the collegiate and cathedral church of St. Patrick near Dublin, from it foundation in 1190, to the year 1819: comprising a topographical account of the lands and parishes ... and biographical memoirs of its deans. Collected, chiefly, from sources of original record, by William Monck Mason, esq.

In his 16] "Genealogical and Historical Notes on Culpepper County, Virginia", Dr. Phillip Slaughter, Culpepper, Virginia, Pages 2, &3, writes that her name was Jane Butler, sister to the Duke of Ormond. Charles Campbell says her name was Butler Bryan [pronounced Brain], daughter of Richard Bryan of Westminster, and her Christian name was after James Butler, Duke of Ormond, her Godfather.
