Christina Pietersz van de Caep was also known as Christijn van de Caep. 24 January 1694, the name of Christina was written in the record as Christina van de Caap.
On 3 February 1692 Christina Pietersz van de Caep was enslaved and owned by the VOC (Vereenigde Oostindische Compagnie) at the Cape. On 3 March 1697 Christina Pietersz van de Caep and Arnoldus van de Caep were enslaved and owned by the VOC at the Cape.
Her mother was Maaij Claesje van Angola, circa 1645, died before 31 December 1732 in the Salve Lodge, Cape. Maaij was said to be from Angola and was perhaps born there circa 1645. Christina Pietersz van de Caep was her second child.
On 14 October 1657 the Amersfoort departed Vlie enroute to de Caep de Goede Hoop where it docked on 28 March 1658. With more than half the journey completed on 23 January 1658, probably off the coast of Angola, the Amersfoort sighted a Portuguese salver with 500 salves on board. After a 24-hour chase, the vessel was captured and 250 slaves were taken aboard the Amersfoort for the journey to the Cape. The crippled Portuguese vessel was abandoned to whatever fate might befall her, 250 slaves and her crew. Only 174 slaves made it alive most of them, according to Jan van Riebeeck "girls and small boys" - among them were Maaij Claesje van Angola. (Refer to The First Fifty Years - South Africa)
The sources for (Anna) Agnita Pietersz's mother are contradictory:
The stamouers site identifies her mother as " Christina van de Kaap" https://www.stamouers.com/stamouers/surnames-v-z/547-van-makassar-j...
While the First 50 years Project identifies Agnieta's mother as "Maria Domingo". http://www.e-family.co.za/ffy/g7/p7506.htm
We have a predicted result of L2a1f listed for "Christina Catharina Pietersz" on the S.A. mtDNA Female Progenitors Project, so it would be good to resolve who exactly this applies to. Any thoughts Sharon Lee Doubell
cf Christijn Pietersz van de Caep, who the ffyp says only MAY be the daughter of Maaij Claesje van Angola. http://www.e-family.co.za/ffy/g8/p8955.htm
From her Geni Overview:
Christina / Christijn Pietersz van de Caep was born c.1664-1673 in bondage to the VOC company at the Cape. She was seconded to Linnes and other Company Officials in Stellenbosch.
She was most likely the individual who was baptised as an adult 4th August 1686.
Christijn Pietersz is identified as mother of Anna van der Heyde, Arnoldus Koevoet, Johannes Morgh, Hendrik, Andries, Willem and Pieter in a newly discovered collection of personal letters from the deceased estate of Arnoldus Koevoet.
Christijn's son Arnoldus Koevoet was described as "heelslag" - which indicates that Christijn also most likely had no European ancestry.
Maaij Claesje van Angola was suggested as a possible mother candidate for Christijn Pietersz by Mansell Upham in his paper Uprooted Lives.
Christijn's predicted Haplogroup L2c however excludes Maaij Claesje van Angola as her biological mother.
"Jan Botma and his wife Stijntje Christoffel de Bruijn owned the farm Welgevallen, on the edge of Stellenbosch village. Welgevallen adjoined Coetsenberg, where Jacobus Coetsé was born and raised. After Botma’s death in 1719, Stijntje de Bruijn moved to De Schotsche Kloof in Table Valley, where she made a will which stated that Willem (Stolts) and his fellow slaves Pieter van Bengalen and Christina Pietersz van de Caab should be freed after she died. The three slaves were also to receive a waggon, eight trek oxen and two fish nets with which to earn ther living. (CJ 2602, Wills, no. 11, 14 July 1723.) ." (Margaret Cairns, ‘Willem Stolts of the Cape – 1692-1750’, Familia xxvii (1990), 47.
It appears that Christijn Pietersz died in 1719 (before her owner), and was therefore never freed. Stijntje de Bruijn died in 1724. Willem Stolts later married Christijn's grand-daughter Anna van Beulen.
A matrilineal descendant of Christijn Pietersz belongs to mtDNA Haplogroup L2c. This suggests that Christijn's mother was most likely one of the West/Central African slaves who arrived at the Cape aboard the "Hasselt" or Amersfoort" in 1658.

At the moment we have Maria Domingo as the wfe of Andreas Pietersz, SV/Prog but the ffyp only has a woman by this name as his daughter b 1692 by Maria Domingo b. c 1665 (http://www.e-family.co.za/ffy/g7/p7506.htm)
- we have a daughter Catharina Pietersz - and it seems these two should merged and placed as the daughter of Andreas Pietersz and Maria Domingo.
Thoughts?
To me, the most important question is to resolve who the mother of Agnita Pietersz (Haplo L2a1f) is.
Stamouers names her Christina v.d.K. with ref. to an article by "G. Schoeman". Can anyone vouch for that? This cannot be Christijn Pietersz v.d.K. ((L2c) because there is an mtDNA conflict.
FFY suggests the mother is Maria Domingo, and provides a likely baptism etc. Seems the more plausible to me.
cf Anna Agnetie/Agnitie Jacobs
RE: If we merge her current mother "Christina Catharina" with her sister Catharina then she becomes the granddaughter of Andreas....which is surely not correct?
- We would cut the relationships on the current mother first.
- Follow FFYP and make both girls' mother Maria Domingo (http://www.e-family.co.za/ffy/g7/p7506.htm)

Either way we have no (Anna) Agnita ......yet.
Whereas we do have "een van Maria van de Caap gent: Angenietje halfsl' baptised 31 July 1695......who is a likely candidate for the daughter of Andreas Pietersz and Maria Domingo.
Arnoldus/Arnold baptize 3 mar 1697 no father wa mention. baptize as Calfs

The surname "Morgh" is mentioned in these 2 sources:
*Bonded Labour and Debt in the Indian Ocean World,Gwyn Campbell, Alessandro Stanziani Routledge, 2015. https://books.google.co.za/books?id=GIZECgAAQBAJ&pg=PT89&lp...

FFY gives a baptism for Johannes 4 Nov 1703: Een kind van Christina Pietersz van de Caab, gent. Johannes, Halfslag
(VC604, Cape Town baptismal registers, Slaven kinders de Ed: Comp., page 68). Hereinafter cited as "Richard Ball e-mail Date: Wed, 10 Jan 2007 16:30:53."
I haven't seen a baptism for Andries, it seems he is only known as a brother of Johannes from the letters. The above sources mention that he is listed in VOC records as a Mandoor in 1727 and died in 1750.
If we are all feeling well enough persuaded that no evidence has yet been found of Christijn Pietersz v.d.C. having baptised a daughter named Agnita,
then could you please go ahead and make Anna Agnetie/Agnitie Jacobs a daughter of Maria Domingo Sharon Doubell
Maria seems to be the most compelling candidate on present evidence.
* Baptism: : https://www.eggsa.org/sarecords/index.php/church-registers/cape-tow...
* 11 April 1706 van Christijn Pietertz gent. Andries, half:
That has crossed my mind too - Pieter Pietersz could possibly be Christijn Pietersz v.d.c father. Myself and my family (mother, child, uncle) all show a small percentage of Nigerian and West African DNA which supports Pieter Pietersz v.g bring her father although her mother could also have West African origins. We have no other source of African DNA other than Christijn Pietersz.
