Hello!

Isabell Whipple is currently attached to parents Sir Henry Ferrers, Sheriff of Kent and Margaret Ferrers. I believe that this connection is incorrect. Firstly, Sir Henry did have a daughter, Elizabeth Clerke, who married James Clerke of Ford Hall, so Elizabeth Ferrers is already accounted for in this family tree. Secondly, this Elizabeth's husband, Thomas Whipple was a bladesmith by occupation (see his about section). I doubt that an upper-class British family like the Ferrers would have a daughter who married a blacksmith/bladesmith.

I am of the opinion that we should disconnect Elizabeth from the Ferrers.

Also, Thomas Whipple 's origins are unknown (see his about section), so I also suggest that he be disconnected from Sir Thomas Whipple and Lady Isabell Buchan Whipple, Countess of Bothwel.

Does anyone have any objections or inputs before changes are made?

“Baroness Elizabeth Ferrers” was a bad merge. I’ve reverted to the values when made MP and locked relationships.

Citation:

"Subsequent to the publication of my book in December 2007, Dr. William Wyman Fiske, a noted genealogist from Cape Cod, Massachusetts, proposed an ancestral origin for Matthew Whipple of Bocking, Essex County England, the progenitor of the family in my book Fiske’s proposed lineage begins with Thomas Whipple, parentage unknown, born about 1475. He was a Bladesmith in Bishops Stortford in Hertfordshire County (which borders Essex County) and died between 1535 and 1537.”

Tamas, you very well could be correct about Thomas Whipple's origin. I am a novice at doing this type of research. I do have a question though. In reading Ancestry.com data, I see that Isabel Buchan Stewart (1452-1557) was the daughter of James II Stewart King of Scotland and her mother was Marie Mary Guelders. Isabel was married to Sir Thomas Whipple (1450-1557) NOTE: difficult to imagine that they both lived to over 100 years of age and died in the same year of 1557.

Sir Thomas Whipple and Isabel Buchan Stewart had seven children, one of whom was Thomas Whipple (1475-1535) which I believe is the same Thomas Whipple that you are referring too in your comment of 2019. He then married Elizabeth Ferrers (1486-1558) and they had one son, Thomas Whipple (1510-1572). Thomas (the son) then married Margaret (???) and they had a son Matthew Whipple (1540-1575). Their son, Matthew (1576-1619) married Joanna (???) and their son was Elder John Whipple (1596-1669) married a Mary Collett (1600-1620) and they had one child, John Whipple (1617-1685). Elder John Whipple emigrated to the USA in 1639. His son, John (1617-1685) married an Alice Angell (1649-1743) and they had a son, Daniel Whipple (1688-1768). Daniel married a Mary Smith (1692-1730) and later married an Anne Chamberlain (1708-1767) and their child Alice Whipple (1740-1779)..........up to my generation via Brown, Hill and Harper.

Please excuse the lengthy list of generations, but I am wondering from your work at what point is there an error in the Ancestry.com lineage on the Whipple family up to what would be my link to James I of Scotland through Isabel Buchan Stewart? Thanks so much for your time and reply.
