I see this has been discussed before, but shouldn't John Nathan Lott, Jr.'s father be named John Nathan Lott Sr. instead of Nathan Arthur Lott?
This site has John and wife DIcey Watts:
https://freepages.rootsweb.com/~jcbarron/genealogy/lott/lott0001.ht...
and only shows this for his lineage:
6. Nathan4 Lott (Nathan3, John2, John1) (Letters, Miklas to Barron, She assigned him to Nathan, but no strong evidence of parent known.
which indicates an uncertainty about his father's name, on that site anyway.
I had seen elsewhere that his parents were Nathan Gash Lott and Keziah Moore. This Nathan Gash Lott doesn't have those connections:
but this one does (different generations, it appears)
I'm trying to help a cousin with her Lott line and these same-name folks have me thrown off track trying to get the rights lineage from the husband of Dicey Watts on back. I'll just stick with her name because it helps identify which Lott man's line I'm trying to connect correctly.
'm just not sure about his parental connections as they are because even the notes in his profile state:
". vii. NATHAN GASH LOTT was born 1745. Wife unknown...(3 children: Nathan Jr., b. 1780, md Dicey Watts;
Nothing in the profile about a father named Nathan Arthur Lott, but then he still wouldn't be John Nathan Lott Jr. even if his father was Nathan Gash Lott. The names just aren't working.
Thanks in advance for any clarification.
Courtney Nicole Kuhlman tagging you on this since it is your line. I wanted to let you know I ran into the name scenario described above and am trying to get a better grasp on the father-son connections.
All these Lotts are related, it's just a matter of getting them properly sorted. All I'm certain of after seeing these confusing name connections is that your Dicey Watts was married to a Lott husband from these lines. We'll get it sorted.
So sticking with just trying to document the lineage of Dicey Watt's husband.
This is the best-sourced site I've found to try to sort these connections. It has Dicey's husband as Nathan and an unknown wife and Nathan being the son of Nathan Gash Lott and his unknown 1st wife:
https://29deadpeople.com/wp/?page_id=1392
It shows Nathan Gash Lott's father as John Lott IIand and his first wife whose name is unknown.
At least it does have a good many sources, family photos, etc. and seems to be better-researched than most sites with Lott family trees.
