The Windsor and Richmond Gazette 17 October 1919

The death of Mrs Elizabeth Jane RUTTER, widow of the late David RUTTER, took place at her residence, Freeman's Reach, at an early hour on Friday morning last, after a serious illness extending over three weeks. The subject of this notice, who was in her 75th year, was born at Cambridgeshire, England, and came to this country with her father (the late James KING, of Wilberforce) at the age of 6 years and has resided in the district ever since. At the age of 21 years she married the late David RUTTER, the ceremony taking place in St John's Church, Wilberforce. Th issue was a family of 10 children, nine of whom are living. One son, James King RUTTER, died nearly 16 years ago. The surviving members of the family are:
Joseph, Freeman's Reach
Mrs J RUTTER (Sarah), North Sydney
John Whitby, Mulgrave
Mrs A T HULBERT (Mary Jane) Newtown
Mrs A BLUNDELL (Elizabeth Charlotte) North Richmond
David Jacob Windsor
Mrs P T HULBERT (Emily Rebecca) Quaker's Hill
Mrs F PEIME (Eliza Alice) Gemalla near Bathurst
George Robert, Freeman;s Reach

A grand-daughter, Miss Millie RUTTER had lived with the deceased from early childhood. A,long line of descendants, including 37 grandchildren, also survive the deceased.

The funeral, which took place on Saturday afternoon, was largely attended, which showed the high esteem in which the deceased lady was held throughout the district. The remains were laid to rest in St Matthews Church of England cemetery, Windsor, the coffin being borne from the hearse to the grave by 4 of the deceased's sons-in-law. Rev N JENKYN conducted the burial service, while the funeral obsequies were in the capable hands of Mr J CHANDLER

From the obituary we know that she arrived in Australia in 1851 at age 6

I am unable to locate any sources for James KING (1819-1885) and Elizabeth PITT (1818-1849) and their daughter Elizabeth Jane KING born 1845

There are only dates on the profiles, no locations, no sources and no other information. The profile manager of these profiles has not been on Geni since 2016 so is unlikely to provide any information at this stage.

Until further information can be provided - I will detach Elizabeth Jane King, d/o James KING and Elizabeth PITT from David Whitby RUTTER

Hi Leanne,
I'm not sure if this will aid your research or not. I too am researching this line and have found this info. I have not verified it myself though and if seems to be a verbal recollection.
Regards, Yvonne.

From the book "Humin hopes, the 1855 diary of Charles Moore, English Immigrant to Australia on the Constitution" Edited by Rob Wills 2005.

A verbal account by Carmel Beal & Sue Venables (both 2x great grand daughters of Robert and Elizabeth Rutter.

"The King and Rutter families had known each other in Toft. We know this because of stories that Granny Rutter used to tell. So it was not surprising that David Rutter (1842-1908), Robert Rutter's second son, married Elizabeth King on 27th June 1866 at St Johns Wilberforce. Elizabeth was born on 18th Feb 1845, the daughter of James King and Elizabeth PETT. Elizabeth had a twin sister who died at birth and her mother died in childbirth."

"In 1851 Robert's sister Elizabeth, her husband James King, and step-daughter Elizabeth Jane King had emigrated to Australia and settled in the Hawkesbury. They arrived aboard the "Emperor" on 6th June 1851. Elizabeth's father was still living in Toft at this time, but her mother, Mary, was deceased."
