Sir? Hervey Walter, (III?), of West Dereham and "of Weeton"
Van Snyder Notes:
“Is the birth year for Hervey Walter II correct? It's a century after his father and 36 years before his son.”
Geoff. Baines Comments:
“Hi All, The ancient document Testa de Nevil implies that Hamo Pincerna married Maud Bussel in 1087. That would mean also that the two Hervy Walters of Weeton ancestors of Hamo settled at Weeton soon after 1066.”
Clarification sought ....
Thank you.
Geoff. Baines If it’s possible, could you locate the parents & post Links to their profiles ? I can’t quite unravel this as yet.
And others welcome to join in & help.
Hi, Hervy Walter 1 arrived in Weeton soon after 1066 a young man he then married the daughter of William Malet who had settled in Norfolk. When Walter de Caen the son of William Malet died his estate passed to Hervy Walter being his brother-in-law. Hervy Walter 2 was born at home with the family of William Malet this being West Dereham, Downham. That's how the Butler history should start.
Hi, For the best and most accurate account of the years after 1066 can be found in the Edward Baines Volume 2 book The History of the County Palatine and Duchy of Lancaster. Sometimes called The History Of Lancashire Vol. 2. I can't find a PDF of it to download but I have been reading it from Google on my Windows 10 Computer.
Hi, In the book The History of Lancashire Vol.2 it says Hamo Pincerna married Maud Bussel in the reign of William Rufus that ran from 1087-1100. Their 2nd son called Richard and 3rd son called Willielmus and this 3rd son was made Lord of Eccleston. It looks like 1st son William died young. This means Hervy Walter 1 & 2 dates are wrong on GENi.
