William Dorton's parents are William Dorton and Elizabeth Watts. the Elizabeth Dorton is actually Elizaeth Watts,. She was only married to William Dorton so all the children she had belongs to William

Hi Crystal, I have reversed your merge of Mary FUGATE into Elizabeth WALKER as they are two different women as evidenced by their birth dates 16 years apart. Once we determine who the mother is we can detach her from him.

Do you have any source documentation to William's mother being Elizabeth WATTS - who is different from the above 2 women?

Williams mother is Elizabeth Watts she was never a Walker. The death years match up for the Elizabeth there is no Known birth year for her just a death year. The Dorton family is well researched and it is known through DNA and paper trails that Williams mother is Elizabeth Watts

I have changed Elizabeth Walker to Elizabeth Watts.

Now we just have to work out where Mary Fugate belongs

If the Elizabeth Walker I entered is really Elizabeth Watts then she is in the wrong generation according to the surrounding profiles. I was going to say something earlier but thought it would be obvious. Better just to delete her.

Mary Fugate is the wife of William Dorton born 1792. There son Colbert is my third great grandfather

all the children with Mary Walker belong to Elizabeth Watts. I can post a break down of the line if you want to see it. William and Colbert are family names and used over and over in the family. It can be very confusing. We know from much research and DNA testing that Elizabeth Watts is Williams mom. I have not seen the Walker surname on the Dorton family so not sure where it is or what generation that it can belong to. I will have to look at each kid on here and add the information.

So Elizabeth WATTS is William Allen Dorton, III (1792-1859) grandmother not his mother.

Their son William Allen Dorton, III (1792-1859) is also married to Mary Dorton (1794-? - parent conflict)

William F. Dorton born 1750 married Elizabeth Watts. He was never married to a Mary at all. Dates for Elizabeth Watts are in conflict as there is a lot of mis leading information and stories about her being married to a native american no proof as of yet.

There son William Allen was married married Mary Fugate daughter of Colbert O Fugate and Hannah Tate

James Henley Fugate (1826-1906) is on Geni as the son of Colbert O. Fugate, Delegate of the House, VA (1758-1819) and Hannah Fugate (1772-1844)

He is born 7 years after his fathers death

According to some My.Heritage trees his parents are John FUGATE (1795-1878) and Elizabeth HAMILTON (1801-1842) which is a more possible connection.
John FUGATE (1795-1878) is Colbert FUGATE and Hannah TATE's son.

Having a biography in the overview would be a great help to fixing these issues.

I merged my "Elizabeth Walker" that you had changed to "Elizabeth Watts" with her mother-in-law, the other Elizabeth Watts. The dates were different, but there seems no point in struggling with her, and her continued existence was just confusing people.

This is going to take a lot to untangle. It seems there is some generation skipping. I reached out to a cousin of mine who has the family well documented. I need to re look at it with what she sent me. I am not sure if everything needs to be un done from Colbert Coolie Dorton back and then I can go from there or what to do. As for Mary Fugate her parents are Colbert O. Fugate and Hannah Tate. I will have to see if I can locate the book on the family

Leanne it won't be as easy it will require un attaching an adding new people. I just have the base information written down. I will post it later it will just be names and birth dates. I have to finish transcribing it before we can fully see it. I just have the bare bones right now. I will try and post it Thursday when I am back to working on my genealogy
